A lot of bosses in the early game are Fire element, such as the Honed Glavenus and the Magnamalo, so wear Fire-resistant armor, such as the Kut-Ku Armor and bring weapons that deal Water damage.
List of All Weapons

The combat system revolves around the three attack types: Power, Technical, and Speed, and you should bring a party of Monsties that cover every attack type to win Head-to-Heads and trigger Double Attacks.
You should also bring monsters with varied elements to cover different Monster weaknesses. For instance, Royal Ludroth is Water element and has Power Type Attacks, Yian Kut-Ku is Fire element and has Technical Type Attacks, and Tobi-Kadachi is Thunder element and has Speed Type Attacks.
List of All Monsties (Monster List)

You can get Eggs of powerful Monsties, such as a Rathian and an Astalos, from endangered dens after making Invasive Monsters retreat.
These monsters can only be found at night in hidden areas and do not need to be defeated. Instead, you must solve the puzzles based on the clues that you can gather near the invasive monster as well as Rudy's advice in combat.

When you unlock Habitat Restoration, you should try to increase your Monsties' Ecosystem Ranks as the eggs of those Monsties acquire Egg Skills, get an additional element based on the restoration area, and start with better genes. Raising ecosystem ranks can also cause certain species to mutate.
Specifically, it is recommended to get Dreadqueen Rathian at S Rank as it helps a lot until the mid-game, and getting the Boltreaver Astalos to S Rank can give you a strong Monstie that covers a lot of significant bases until the latter stages of the game.

Each of your Battle Allies have their own Side Stories that grant you helpful rewards. Specifically, you should finish Thea's side story to make Poogie Hunting easier, Kora's for bomb recipes, and Ogden's for trap recipes.
List of All Side Stories

You should also acquire the Paintball recipe by completing A Step Toward Conservation, a side quest available in Azuria.
Throwing paintballs at monsters increases their retreat rate when you defeat them, spawning a den that only contains the defeated monster's eggs. This makes it easier to farm for specific Monsties.
A Step Toward Conservation Walkthrough

You'll encounter a lot of Gathering Spots during your playthrough, and you should always press the Interact/Gather button as you play in order to passively gain resources. This ensures that you will have components for crafting or ingredients for combining and cooking.
