You can use a Double Attack in Monster Hunter Stories 3 by winning a Head-to-Head battle while you and your Monstie attack the same target. Find out how to easily trigger Double Attacks and what their effects are here!
List of Contents

In order to trigger a Double Attack, you or your Monstie must win a Head-to-Head while you and your Monstie are attacking the same opponent.

Since Head-to-Heads are about winning the Rock-Paper-Scissors situation by choosing the correct attack type, you and your Monstie must also use the same attack type to trigger a Double Attack.

Some Weapon Skills have no Attack Types, which have yellow icons, similar to the Hunting Horn skills above. These types of skills cannot trigger Head-to-Heads, and therefore cannot trigger Double Attacks as well.

・Your Monstie, Battle Ally, or Ally's Monstie will trigger a Head-to-Head. |
You can manipulate your chances of getting a Double Attack by following the Battle Lines in combat. Specifically, you can make your Monstie use a skill toward an opponent that is targeting you with a yellow line, or you can attack an opponent that is targeting your Monstie with a blue line.

One of the advantages of using a Double Attack is increasing the Kinship Gauge significantly, allowing you to ride your Monstie more quickly and use your Kinship Skills.

As you're attacking with your Monstie, you'll also be dealing lots of damage to the opposing Monster that lost the Head-to-Head.

Finally, triggering a Double Attack also cancels the opposing Monster's action, giving you an advantage in combat and mitigating the damage your party would take.
