Use Big Barrel Bombs
Big Barrel Bombs deal a set amount of damage to an opponent, allowing you to bypass a Barrel Felyne's high defense.
You can get the recipe to craft Big Barrel Bombs by completing Kora's first Side Story.
Let Kora Use Her Launch Bombs
You should also bring Kora as your Battle Ally as she brings Launch Bombs in combat. Not only do these bombs deal a set amount of damage, but they hit mulitple opponents as well, allowing you to defeat multiple Battle Felynes before they flee.

Command Purple Gypceros to Use Tail Stun
Finally, you should bring a Gypceros in your Monstie party as it has the Tail Stun skill, which deals a fixed amount of damage but also has the chance to stun a Barrel Felyne and strike first before they can run away.
