Ogden Provides Exceptional Buffs and Enemy Disruption
Ogden is the best partner to have in battle as he has access to various offensive and defensive buffs. He also has the ability to prolong a buff up to 6 turns or enhance an existing buff to its next level. This is especially useful early in the game as you do not have access to buffs that can stack when used repeatedly.
He can also deal significant Wyvernfell damage to the enemies so that you can easily topple or stagger an enemy. Not only that, he also has access to numerous traps and knives that can instantly disrupt the enemy turn which gives you a turn to deal damage without any risk of taking one.

Kora Is Best With Redirecting Attacks and Head to Head
Kora uses defensive skills to bolster her defense stat and redirect attacks to her. She can take a beating especially if the enemy only has single-target skills. However, she rarely attacks as she needs to accumulate shells to use her damaging skills.
What makes Kora great is that in battle, allies can revive themselves with full hearts when they lose all of it in 2 turns. This way, she can take all the damage, lose all of her hearts and regain it again while you and your monstie deal damage.

Simon Inflicts More Damage Against Feral Monsters
Simon is the jack of all trades compared to all the other battle allies. He has average stats, access healing, buffs and debuffs, and cure items, and his monstie can use all the attack types. He deals decent damage and wyvernfell while providing useful buffs to the party.
What makes him is unique is his passive ability that increases damage against rarer enemies such a Feral and Dragon Monsters. He is perfectly suited as a battly ally against rarer bosses. Do note that he will be unavailable as a battle ally after finishing the Hostile Encounter main story.

Thea Can Easily Stack Buffs and Enemy Debuffs
Thea has the highest speed and critical chance stat which makes her great for applying buffs and debuffs before you or the enemy takes their turn. She can also deal significant damage as long as she deals a critical strike but in exchange to having the lowest defense possible.
She has access to a skill that damages all enemies and scales based on how many poogies you found. Make sure to find Poogies to increase the damage of her unique skill.

Gaul Is Proficient With Status Ailment Infliction
Despite his initial weapon, Gaul is better off inflicting status ailments and capitalizing it with Chaser skills. Once he gets his Bow after completing his Chapter 2 side story, he can fully use his passive skills alongside his monstie skills.
He also has a unique skill that inflicts one enemy with all debuffs for 3 turns which makes him more of a support battle ally rather than an offensive one.

Eleanor Specializes In Burst Single-Target Damage
Eleanor is your go-to battle ally if you want to deal high burst damage to enemies. She is all-in offensive and most of her skills revolve around charging her blade to deal either massive single-target or AoE damage especially if the enemy is weak against fire damage.
She also has access to a skill exclusive to her where she gives the party offensive buffs and a one time buff that prevents a fatal hit. Do note that she will always use this skill when she is at 1 heart however, you can make her do it again if you restore her heart above one then she loses it down to 1 heart again.
