3. Normal State |
| Normal State | |
|---|---|
| Hellfireblight Mantle | |
| Hellfireblight Critical |
The Magnamalo has three states, its Normal, Hellfireblight Mantle and Hellfireblight Critical State. During the latter two states, specific body parts will be affected by Hellfireblight which the players need to destroy to weaken it.
| Turn Count | Move |
|---|---|
| Turn 1 | Hellfire Retribution |
| Turn 2 After Hellfireblight Mantle State |
Technical Attack |
| Turn 3 | Hellfire Retribution |
| Turn 4 After Hellfireblight Mantle State |
Exploding Gas |
This is the starting state the Magnamalo will be in during the fight. In this state, attack its back since it is affected by Hellfireblight.
It is recommended to also use Tobi Kadachi since it will be very weak to Thunder type attacks. However, switch it out for a Power type Monstie if it is engaging in a head to head to win against its Technical attacks.
| Turn Count | Move |
|---|---|
| Turn 1 | Speed Attack |
| Turn 2 | Hellfire Shot |
| Turn 3 After Hellfireblight Critical State |
Speed Attack |
When the Magnamalo uses the attack, Hellfire Retribution, causing strong damage to all four party members, it will return to its normal state. Additionally it will use Hellfire Shot which is a strong single target damage attack. Switch out to a Technical type Monstie if it is engaging in a head to head.
| Turn Count | Move |
|---|---|
| Turn 0 | Hellfire Cloak Uses this to enter the Hellfireblight Mantle State |
| Turn 1 | Power Attack |
| Turn 2 | Spirit Tail Stab |
| Turn 3 | Power Attack |
| Turn 4 | Exploding Gas May apply Blastblight |
| Turn 5 | Blast Chaser |
| Turn 6 After Normal State |
Power Attack |
| Turn 7 | Power Attack-Spirit Tail Stab |
| Turn 8 | Exploding Gas |
| Turn 9 | Power Attack-Spirit Tail Stab |
After the normal state, the team will notice that the flames will get stronger and that the Magnamalo will enter the Hellfireblight Mantle state. This time its Forelegs and Head will be affected by the Hellfireblight so players need to pay attention to breaking those parts.
During head to heads, make sure to switch to a Speed type Monstie to win.
Royal Ludroth
|
Plesioth
|
Tobi-Kadachi
|
Royal Ludroth or Plesioth make excellent additions to the roster when fighting the Magnamalo as it is weak to Water type attacks in all of its states.
Similarly, a Tobi-Kadachi will be good coverage against a Magnamalo's weakness to Thunder type attacks.
The Magnamalo will be at Level 16 when you fight it so level up your party to be at least Level 15.

Since the Magnamalo changes its state to three different types and with each state covering each attack type, Speed in the Normal State, Power in the Hellfireblight Mantle State and Technical in the Hellfireblight Critical State.
When a prompt shows up for a head to head, make sure you switch out your Monstie to the proper attack type effective against it.

During the Hellfireblight Mantle state, Eleanor will state that they need to break the parts covered in flames. During this state break the Forelegs or Head as these are the ones affected by the Hellfireblight.
The Hellfireblight will switch to its back when in the Hellfireblight Critical State. Pay attention to the battle menu when it switches its forms.

It is important to equip strong armor during this fight as all of the Magnamalo's attacks are strong and most affect all four party members. Armor such as the Kadachi or Nerscylla Armor are excellent options.
List of All Armor

Players can equip a Strong Blunt Weapon such as the Chata Clobberer or Venom Monster as well as a Thunder Type Bow such as the Arko Nulo Yellow in order to break its forelegs and head faster during the Hellfireblight Mantle state.

Players encounter the Magnamalo during the main quest Hostile Encounter. Specifically, it is when the group of rangers journey to the Wyverian Gate and encounter the boss blocking their path ahead.
