How to Unlock A Better Absorb Shield

Location Hammerhead
Unlock Condition Obtain Absorb Shield, and complete "Cid Sophiar, Master Mechanic" sidequest.

A Better Absorb Shield Clear Conditions and Rewards

Clear Condition Collect a Spiked Armor and deliver it to Cid to upgrade the weapon.
Reward 800 EXP
Absorb Shield II

How to Complete A Better Absorb Shield

Talk to Cid

Speak with Cid to begin this sidequest. He will help you upgrade your weapon, but you need to find the item that he is asking.

Find the Spiked Armor

Go to Cauthess Rest Area, and speak with the Tipster to start the hunt Hammer the Cannibals. Then, follow the marked location to find Skarnbulettes. Defeat them to get Spiked Armor.

Defeating a Skarnbulette

Skarnbulettes are weak to Shields and Machinery. Make sure to equip those kinds of weapons before engaging with Skarnbulettes.

Upgrade to Absorb Shield II

Talk to Cid by returning to Hammerhead. Hand over the Spiked Armor to upgrade the Absorb Shield and complete the sidequest.
