This is a guide for winnning Chocobo races in Final Fantasy XV. Read on to learn about how to participate and win chocobo races!

Chocobo Race

How to Participate in a Chocobo Race

You can participate in a Chocobo Race on the Chocobo Race Track which is located south of Wiz Chocobo Post. This will only be available together with the chocobo rent after defeating Deadeye from Wiz's request.

Winning a race will reward you with a medal which you can use to customize your chocobo.

Chocobo Race Rules

The goal is simply to place first in the race. Not getting through the checkpoints in the correct order or leaving the course may lead to disqualification.

Basic Chocobo Race Controls

Chocobo Race Tips

Chocobo Level

Raise Chocobo Level

You can increase the level of your chocobo by just traveling on it. Increasing the level will give the chocobo stamina boosts and certain abilities!

Level Bonus
1 -
2 Dash de Chocobo (Summon chocobos to flee once per battle)
3 Increase maximum stamina and maximum running speed
4 Kick de Chocobo (Chocobo will kick enemies during battle)
5 Increase maximum stamina and maximum running speed
6 Dance de Chocobo (Increase party's HP regeneration rate)
7 Increase maximum stamina and maximum jump height
8 Rush de Chocobo (Chocobo unleashes a flurry of attacks in battle)
9 Increase maximum stamina and increase stamina recovery rate
10 Link de Chocobo (Chocobo can perform blindside-link attacks with Noctis)

Start Boost

Press and hold R2 when the countdown hits "2". When the race starts, there will be a special animation and you will obtain a speed boost.

Block Opponent

You can block your opponent's path by getting in front of them. If you are the one getting blocked, try to take back the lead by sprinting.

Raise Chocobo's Stats

Feed your chocobo at camps before you participate in a race. Feeding your chocobo with Sylkis Greens will make any race a breeze as it boosts all your chocobo's stats.

Sprint

Make your chocobo sprint by pressing the button. Maximize the use of your stamina bar by sprinting immediately at the start of the race.

      Hi! Thank you for your question :)
      Noctis needs to sneak behind the Black Chocobo until Ignis distracts it. The player should keep the chocobo inside his field of view to see if it is looking around, if so, Noctis needs to duck (hold square). Keep on doing this while also moving towards the chocobo until Ignis distracts it. While it is distracted, pick up the glasses then run away before the timer ends.
