The level of each of the party members can be increase by earning Experience Points (or EXP) such as when clearing battles or successfully completing quests.
However, the experience points you have accumulated will not immediately reflect and add to your current EXP. You will have to stay at camps or inns to cash them all in.
Increasing your level also increases your stats such as Strength, Vitality, and Magic. Leveling up is essential if you want to get stronger and defeat more dangerous enemies.

 Magic |
Increases the damage dealt by spells and attacks that scales with the Magic stat, such as Scepter of the Pious and Bow of the Clever |
 Spirit |
Reduces damage received from magical attacks |
 Fire Resistance |
Reduces damage received from fire-elemental attacks |
 Ice Resistance |
Reduces damage received from ice-elemental attacks |
 Lightning Resistance |
Reduces damage received from lightning-elemental attacks |
 Dark Resistance |
Reduces damage received from dark-elemental attacks |
 Shot Resistance |
Reduces damage received from ballistic attacks |
The Ascension system is divided into 9 Astralspheres.
Each astralsphere contain ability nodes with different effects and abilities that can be used to progress smoothly through the game.

In addition to character levels, there is a system called Ascension with nodes that you can unlock using AP to get stronger. APs can be earned in different ways such as leveling up and defeating an enemy with warp-strike.
