FFXV A King's Struggle Walkthrough

List of Objectives
1 Noct must defeat the daemons using the Arcana of the ring, the first of which is Drain/Death. Make your way to the elevator and enter the Keep.
2 Trace your way to a door leading to a marked key, then turn on the machine in the next room.
3 Press on the green switch near the door to open or close it, then make your way to the next marker. You'll see that a previously closed door is now open.
4 Activate the elevator through a nearby control panel. Here, another skill of the Ring, Holy, is activated through combat with two demons.
5 The last of the Ring skills, a skill to banish all enemies to the void at the expense of 3/4 of your MP, is activated as Noct is be-set by daemons once more.
6 Make your way to the upper levels of the Keep. There are spaces here where you can hide. Use them when the situation calls for it.
7 There is a door here that will need a keycard. The location of the keycard will be marked. Once you've located the keycard, return to the door that it opens.
8 When moving around, you'll see a visage of Prompto disabling the guards. Follow him, until you stumble into a room with a machine that allows clearance to level 2 doors.
9 Follow Prompto until you come across a room where he is being held. Navigate a narrow path into the room he is being held in.
10 You'll be ambushed by three enemies here. Defeat them to move on. Go into the room where Prompto is, to see the truth--it is an inactive Imperial trooper.
11 Upgrade your keycard with access to the third levels, then move along. Clear these rooms of their items. One of the rooms has a Lv30 Snaga lying in wait. If you need HP, this is the Snaga to kill with 'Death'.
12 Make your way to the marker, and ride the elevator to your next destination.
13 Althroughout, Ardyn will goad you, but the direction he points you towards--the central elevator--is unresponsive. Find another way.
14 You'll find a control panel that moves the central elevator, but it needs a different keycard. Find it. Take care not to rile the Lv30 Gargantua guarding the way.
15 Move out of the way of the axe guardsmen by using Square. Take care of getting one of them alone, then Banish them.
16 Make your way through the entire floor without being seen. If you are, just make sure you aren't cornered.
17 Get the Keycard and return to the power outlet needing it. Once you put the keycard in, the power will be partially restored, and you'll be ushered into another quest.

Tips and Strategies

This is a list of important things to do in the quest A King's Struggle. Read on to find out which of them is crucial to proceeding.

  • Using Death (o) will allow Noct to use the daemons' HP to restore his own.
  • Use the Ring way out of reach of the daemons. You may incur -70 HP penalty if the daemons explode close by.
  • Use Holy when outnumbered, such as when there are more than one daemon. Finish the remaining daemon with Death to replenish your HP.
  • If you have a full complement of MP, don't hesitate to banish daemons to the void. This is also true if you're not in dire need of HP
  • Use the hiding places when the situation calls for it, especially when you have Imperial guardsmen roaming around.
  • Watch out for Imperial puppets that suddenly spring alive and grab at your feet—they explode.
  • The banish move from the Ring is effective on the one enemy. Try to get it to move near exploding Imperial guards.
