Chapter 5 - The Thieves
The chapter starts with Rhea assigning you this month's mission, followed by your house leader talking to you about it.
Black Eagles
None of the choices presented will have an effect on Edelgard's support level.

| 1 | Accept the quest, A Visit to Jeralt, from Seteth. |
| 2 | Talk to Leonie, who is outside Jeralt's room, in the corridor you see when you walk out of Rhea's chamber. |
| 3 | Talk to Catherine in the Knights' Hall. |
| 4 | Return to Seteth. He will offer to show you to the graveyard, and once you accept it will mark Jeralt's location on the map. |
| 5 | Find Jeralt in the Graveyard, which is west of the corridor between the Reception Hall and Cathedral. |
| 6 | Speak to Flayn to accept the Tending to the Saints quest. Completing this unlocks the Saints' Statues. |
| 7 | Take the Forge the Way quest to unlock the Blacksmith. |
| 8 | Accept the merchant's Clearing the Way quest to unlock the Southern Merchant. |

The Blacksmith
Completing Forge the Way will unlock the Blacksmith for use. There, you can repair weapons using Forging Materials or forge them into stronger variants. This is useful for rarer weapons that you cannot buy.
The Statues of the Saints
Completing the Tending to the Saints Side Quest at the small chamber in the northeast corner of the Catherdral unlocks the Saints' Statues facility. You can spend Renown for bonuses to your units' growth.
The Exotic Merchants
Completing Clearing the Way's battle unlocks the Eastern and Southern Merchants, who offer a variety of goods such as gifts, tea, ingredients, and smithing materials.
Sauna (DLC)
Completing the Sauna Time quest unlocks the Sauna. Use this to boost support levels with a student, as well as receive a skill bonus when training.

Battle Preparations
As this will be your first encounter with a monster, you should equip your units with Combat Arts that are effective against monsters, such as a Lancer's Monster Piercer.

After completing the mission, you report back to Rhea at Garreg Mach, and she asks you to return the Lance of Ruin. You will have the choice to decline if Sylvain is in your party.
Choosing the B) I will not. option, aside from decreasing her support level, will allow you to keep the Lance of Ruin and give it to Sylvain if he is your party.
If you did not choose the Blue Lions route or recruit Sylvain before this mission, this dialogue will not occur.
There is, however, a paralogue mission for Sylvain later on that gives him the Lance of Ruin upon completion if you chose to return the lance to Rhea.
