Fire Emblem: Three Houses (FE3H)

How to Use Divine Pulse

This is a guide to the Divine Pulse, a mechanic in Fire Emblem Three Houses (FE3H) that lets you turn back time to redo turns and actions. Read on to find out what the Divine Pulse is, how it works, and how to increase its charges.

What is Divine Pulse?

Allows Byleth to Revert Time

The Divine Pulse is an ability granted to Byleth by the goddess Sothis during the prologue of the game. It allows Byleth to turn time backwards for a limited number of time. Essentially, it is a way to redo previous turns in battle, which can allow you to alter the outcome of battle without having to restart.

Pressing the ZL Button shows a hazy version of the battle field. By navigating the turns using the up and down button, you can choose which turn or action you want to revert back to. Note that once you turn back time, it becomes impossible to return to the future turns you have already done.

Cannot Be Used Infinitely

Divine Pulse has a limit, depending on the amount of Divine Pulse charges you have. This normally starts at 3, and can be increased by performing several actions and completing some paralogues.

Tales of the Red Canyon is a paralogue that has no required units. It rewards you with 3 Divine Pulses, making it extremely worthwhile to complete.

Improve the Saint Statues

FE3H Statue
The Statues in the monastery can be improved using the Renown Byleth has obtained during your playthrough. One of the bonuses all 4 statues have in common is increasing the Divine Pulse by 1 charge. Obtaining all of these bonuses nets you a whooping +4 divine pulse charges.

Renown is a form of currency in the game used for several purposes in addition to improving the Saint Statues. For more information about Renown, see the link below.
