How to Increase Inventory Space

Super Mario RPG - How to Increase Inventory Space

You can hold up to 29 items in the original Super Mario RPG, but can that be increased in the Super Mario RPG Remake? Learn more about whether it is possible to increase inventory space and more!

Can You Increase Inventory Space?

Inventory Space is Fixed

As of this writing, there is no information or news yet on whether Mario's inventory space can be increased in Super Mario RPG Remake.

In the original game, the inventory was restricted to an item capacity of 29 from the beginning to the end.

Prioritize inventory management for now, since the inventory can be filled with items quite quickly whenever you are fighting or farming enemies!

Quantity per Item Is Capped at 30

Super Mario RPG - Amount you can carry

While your Inventory Space is fixed, normal items will have a cap of 30. This means you can get up to 30 pieces of the same item and it will be available to use in your inventory.

Excess Items Get Sent to Your Storage Box

Should players exceed the allotted quantity of an item, they can still pick up more of that item as it will be sent to the Storage Box in Mario's House where you can retrieve it later on.

How the Inventory Works

Up to 29 Items in Inventory

In Super Mario RPG Remake, Mario has an inventory that can hold up to a total of 29 items in the inventory (including the Waste Basket option) from the start of the game. This the only inventory you can access in the game, and there are no storage spaces for items anywhere else.

The inventory includes carrying important items in the game such as some keys and cards which are used to gain access to certain areas. Look out for some key items such as the Bright Card used to get into Grate Guy's Casino, as you do not want to sell or throw away any of these.

Whenever a new item is to be added to Mario's inventory, another item, such as a Mushroom, must be discarded to make space.

Use or Discard to Free Up Inventory

Items to Keep
Recovery Items
・Croaka Cola
・Mushrooms
・Freshen Up
・Pick Me Up
・Syrups
Attack/Buff Items
・Rock Candy
・Yoshi Candy
・Bombs
・Party Energizer
・Party Bracer
Items to Sell/Discard
Rotten Items
・Moldy Mush
・Wilt Mushroom
・Rotten Mush

Above are some recommended items that should be kept, sold, or discarded. This all entirely depends on what items are needed for each situation.

Since you can only hold up to 29 items in your inventory, prioritize using items or discarding the ones you do not need to free up space.

You may want to prioritize saving some items that prove useful in battle such as Rock Candy, an item which deals lots of damage against all enemies.
