Mario will have the highest overall stats out of all characters if you distribute the bonus based on the table above. Both Mario's normal attacks and Special Moves are powerful, so it is recommended to use a versatile build to enhance their power.

Mario | Bowser's Keep |

Jump, Fire | |
Role in Combat | |
・Physical attacker ・Jump and Fire Single-target spellcaster |
Everyone's favorite red-capped protagonist. Mario is the main playable character of the game and is tasked to save Princess Peach and collect all Star Pieces.
In combat, Mario is able to deal Jump and Fire-based damage to foes. Mastering the timing of the Jump move can deal devastating damage against enemies, so be sure to time Jump attacks well!
Mario's Jump attacks—Jump, Super Jump, and Ultra Jump—have unique mechanic that further increases their damage.
The starting move Jump permanently gains damage boost each time you use it, while the moves Super Jump and Ultra Jump that Mario learns later on in the game can go for as long as you can get the attack timing right every time you use it.
As these are considered Special attacks, getting the Special boosts on level ups can further increase their damage.
Mario is the main character of the game and will be playable as soon as the player reaches the starting dungeon, Bowser's Keep. He starts at Level 1.

I saw that you recently uploaded the all-purpose build for Mario. Why did you choose to add bonus to attack and defense at level 16 instead of HP ? Also, why do you don't add bonus to HP anymore after level 20 ?

Thanks for your comment! You are right, adding HP at level 16 is the more balanced option, this has been fixed. The reason HP isn't added anymore after level 20 is because the bonuses for HP decrease significantly after that point. You can see this in the level up bonus table. Hope this answered your question!
