Fireworks can be purchased from a mole in Moleville, although you won't be able to buy more than one until you complete a questline involving trading away the Fireworks.
You can buy the Fireworks from a certain mole in Moleville for 500 Coins. He can be found inside the house that's found north of the Item Shop.
However, he'll only sell it to you once at first; there's a set of steps that you need to do before you can buy more Fireworks.
To purchase more Fireworks, you'll need to do a series of trades with various moles scattered around Moleville. You'll trade the Fireworks for another item, which you'll then trade for another item, etc.
The first thing you need to do is trade away the first Fireworks that you bought. The mole girl just outside the shop is looking for Fireworks, and will trade you a Shiny Stone for it.
Note that if you want to battle Culex, you need the Shiny Stone, so hold off on trading the Shiny Stone again if you want to battle the boss first.
How to Get and Use Shiny Stone
The Shiny Stone will now have to be traded to another mole girl; you'll find this one in the upper corner of the Moleville shop. She'll give you a Carbo Cookie for the Shiny Stone.
How to Get and Use Carbo Cookie
This Carbo Cookie will have to be traded again; you'll have to find the next mole girl in the bucket, at the western part of Moleville. She'll give you a Frog Coin for the Carbo Cookie.
After this trading sequence, you can now buy more Fireworks from the Firework Vendor.
Fireworks is a special item that is important in unlocking a couple of secrets in the game.
The first Fireworks that you buy can only be used to trade for the Shiny Stone. The Shiny Stone is a special item that you need to open the sealed door to Culex, a powerful secret boss.
Culex Secret Boss: How to Unlock and Beat
When you have multiple Fireworks in your inventory during the game's ending, you'll get the Secret Ending, where the Fireworks display design will be different compared to the regular ending.
The design will depend based on the amount of Fireworks you have.
Fireworks Display | # of Fireworks |
---|---|
Mushroom Shape | 0 - 2 |
Fire Flower Shape | 3 - 4 |
Star Shape | 5+ |
If you have two or less Fireworks (including having none) in your inventory, the fireworks display at the end of the game will display a Mushroom shape. This is the regular ending to the game.
If you have three or four Fireworks in your inventory, the fireworks display at the end of the game will display a Fire Flower shape. This is one of the secret endings.
If you have at least five Fireworks in your inventory, the fireworks display at the end of the game will display a Star shape.
Five Fireworks means you need to have accumulated 3000 coins; this is quite a huge amount, so you might need to farm coins for quite a bit!
