In Super Mario RPG Remake, there is a chest just out of reach in Kero Sewers that can be obtained two ways, with different rewards depending on the method. Read on to learn the ways on how to get to the Kero Sewers chest and what rewards you can get from it.
Methods on How to Get | |
---|---|
Perform Boo Jump Trick (Flower Tab) |
Access Through Land's End (Cricket Jam) |
• Lure Boo Between the Gaps • Use Boo as Platform to Reach the Ledge |
• Access Cave Under Sky Bridge • Reach the End of the Secret Passage • Jump on the Ledges |
The Kero Sewers chest is found floating on an arch in a room full of Boos, right before leading to Belome and the Midas River.
The reward from this chest depends on at what method you chose to reach the chest!
By performing the Boo Jump trick, players can have access to the Kero Sewers chest much earlier in the game. This is done by performing a jump exploit with the help of a Boo enemy.
You won't be able to get the Flower Tab reward for this method after you go through the secret passage detailed below, so make sure to do this first!
First, position yourself on the upper platform at the gap between the first arch and the pipe, then wait for a Boo to appear and approach you. Initiate a battle, then defeat it or run away. This will cause the Boo to start disappearing.
Before the Boo disappears, quickly jump on it, then jump again to reach the higher platform. You can then proceed to jump on the ledges to reach the chest, which contains a Flower Tab.
Note that the Pipe that can be accessed with this trick cannot be used to travel to Land's End early, only leading to a dead end.
The intended way is via a secret entrance in Land's End, an area located much later in the game from when you first encounter it. You can reach Land's End after defeating Speardovich as part of finding the sixth Star Piece.
In Land's End, a secret passage can be found right under the end of the bridge of Sky Bridge, in a hole on the cliff wall.
To gain entry to the hole, cross the bridge above, then drop down from the cliff to the hole.
Sky Bridge Guide and Rewards
Once inside the passage, navigating it should be straightforward since the path is linear, and there are arrow signs to help. This passage will contain chests, so make sure to grab the rewards inside them before reaching the end!
This path also has one hidden chest that can be accessed past the first chest by jumping a the corner of a turn. At the end of the passage, jump on the spring platform to reach Kero Sewers.
After using the spring platform in Land's End, you will emerge from a pipe in Kero Sewers. Simply make your way to the floating treasure chest by jumping on the ledges on the arches. The reward in the chest will be a Cricket Jam.
You can return to Land's End by using the pipe!
Reward | Method of Obtaining |
---|---|
Flower Tab | Boo Jump Trick |
Cricket Jam | Land's End Pipe |
Depending on the method you used to get to the chest, the reward will be different.
Choosing to open the chest through the Boo Jump Trick rewards you with a Flower Tab. If you come back to the chest later through Land's End, you'll find that you can open the chest again, allowing you to get the other reward.
Flower Tab Locations and Effects
If you chose to open the chest by going through Land's End, it will contain the Cricket Jam, a special item that can be given as a snack to Frog Sage in Tadpole Pond, getting 10 Frog Coins in exchange.
Cricket Jam - Effects and How to Get
It's actually possible to get both rewards! If you get the Flower Tab first by using the Boo Jump Trick, then go all the way to Land's End and follow the secret passage, you'll find that the chest can be opened again, now containing the Cricket Jam. This means that Cricket Jam is not missable.
However, it doesn't work the other way; if you already obtained the Cricket Jam, the chest will not reset anymore, and you won't be able to get the Flower Tab after. Don't worry, since there are many ways of getting Flower items to raise your FP.
