Unlocked After Completing Wayaway Island

After you complete Wayaway Island, you will be able to find this side quest on Shipshape Island. Talk to Dewey Fightem at the Plaza in order to start Glohm Sharpcask.

If this side quest doesn’t appear for you after you return to Shipshape Island from Wayaway Island, you may need to progress the story a little bit.

Recommended to Be Level 39

This side quest involves defeating enemies to complete it. It is recommended to have Mario and Luigi to be at least level 39 to easily complete this quest.

Talk to Dewey Fightem on Shipshape Island

To start this quest, talk to Dewey Fightem, a light-green-colored Concordian wearing sunglasses that you first encountered in the Lushgreen Sea Lighthouse.

He can be found to the south of the Shipshape Island Plaza, near the three NPCs that give you advice on Battle Plug combos, Mario and Luigi’s level, and their equipment.

Sail to the Color-Full Sea Great Lighthouse Island

Set your course for the Great Lighthouse Island in the Color-full Sea. Since this cannot be connected to Shipshape Island, you will need to sail to it manually. Press X on the Ocean Map to speed up your traversal.

Go to the Sharpcask Boss Room

Once you arrive at the Color-full Sea’s Great Lighthouse Island, use the green warp pipe near your starting point to fast travel to the area outside the boss room in sublevel 2.

Head north, past the archway, Save Block, and Recovery Block, to get to the boss room. You can save and heal before you go in and start the battle.

Defeat Glohm Sharpcask

Glohm Sharpcask is a tougher version of Sharpcask, and it has the ability to inflict Glohm on Mario and Luigi. You need to defeat it to complete this quest.

Equip Recommended Plugs

Battle Plug	Effect
Anti-Spike Specialist	Hammer attacks against spiky enemies are guarenteed critical hits.
Auto Ampberry	When you are afflicted with Glohm, will automatically use an Ampberry.

The recommended Battle Plugs to equip for this battle are the Anti-Spike Specialist plug and the Auto Ampberry plug. Glohm Sharpcask is considered to be a spiky enemy, making Anti-Spike Specialist an effective plug.

As a Glohmed enemy, Glohm Sharpcask can also inflict the Glohm status ailment if it successfully attacks Mario or Luigi. To immediately cure this status effect, equip the Auto Ampberry plug.

Use Multi-Hit Bros. Attacks to Break the Shield

Glohm Sharpcask will put up a shield every so often. To efficiently break this shield, perform multi-hit Bros. Attacks like the Yoo Who Cannon or Bomb Derby.

These moves hit multiple times, ensuring the shield is destroyed within two hits and allowing the attack to continue, dealing damage to Glohm Sharpcask itself.

Prepare for Enraged Attacks

Once Glohm Sharpcask’s HP goes down to about 20%, it will enter an enraged state and gain an additional attack pattern.

How to Beat Glohm Sharpcask

Report Back to Dewey Fightem

Once you’ve defeated Glohm Sharpcask, make your way back out of the boss room, through the green warp pipe, then down to the cannon. You, unfortunately, cannot use your Return Pipe to fast travel on Great Lighthouse Islands.

Use the cannon to return to Shipshape Island, then talk to Dewey Fightem to tell him what happened. He will then give you your reward.
