Monster Mania: Level 3 is a side quest in Mario & Luigi: Brothership that can be started on Petit Islet after completing Jellyfish Island. Read on for a full walkthrough of Monster Mania: Level 3, including its location, unlock requirements, and rewards.

Unlocked After Completing Jellyfish Island
After you complete Jellyfish Island, you will be able to find this side quest on Petit Islet. Talk to the Monster Mania member in a white suit on the eastern end of Petit Islet in order to start Monster Mania: Level 3.
If this side quest doesn’t appear for you after you return to Shipshape Island from Jellyfish Island, you may need to progress the story a little bit.
Recommended to Be Level 41
This side quest involves defeating enemies to complete it. It is recommended to have Mario and Luigi to be at least level 41 to easily complete this quest.
Available After Getting Through the Fortress Zocket Barrier
This quest unlocks once you have built either Technikki’s flying engine or Adaphne’s submarine engine and have made it past the Fortress Zokket barrier.
The new engine allows you to jump to any current instantly, including the disconnected currents such as the one Petit Island is on.

Monster Mania: Level 3 Walkthrough
Talk to Maniac No. 3 on Petit Islet
Set your course for the isolated current at the top right corner of the Brrrning Sea, then fast-travel to it using Shipshape’s new engine by pressing Y. Petit Islet should be floating around here.
Use the Big Cannon to launch Mario and Luigi to Petit Islet, then head to the right side of the islet to find Maniac No. 3. When he asks if you can beat his enhanced Curlup, say Yes in order to start the quest.

Defeat the Curlup R
Talk to the Monster Mania member again to start a battle with a strong level 40 Curlup R. This battle isn’t too difficult, but it may take a while because of the monster’s high HP. Just try to focus on offense and use your strongest attacks.
To help you inflict more damage, it’s recommended to equip the Surprise Iron Ball plug and the Fiery Attack plug. If you manage to burn the Curlup R, it will also take damage every turn.
Once burned, focus on using Bros. Attacks, since they tend to be stronger than your standard Hammer and Jump attacks even with Battle Plugs helping you out.

After defeating the Curlup R, you will be rewarded with two Max Nuts and two Heart Beans. Heart Beans are also what Maniac No. 3 fed the Curlup to make it stronger.
