List of Contents
Stat | Description |
---|---|
HP | Amount of health. Determines how much damage the character can take |
BP | Required to perform Bros. Attacks |
POW | Base damage of the character’s attacks |
Jump | Attack power of Jump attacks based on POW but can be affected by gear |
Hammer | Attack power of Hammer attacks based on POW but can be affected by gear |
DEF | Defense power that determines how much damage is reduced from incoming enemy attacks |
SPEED | Determines the turn order |
STACHE | Luck stat that affects the odds of landing a LUCKY attack |
Each of the brothers’ stats affect how well they perform in battles. To see the defensive capabilities of the character, look at HP and DEF. For their offensive capabilities, check BP and POW.
Two sub-stats under POW influence the two types of basic attacks: Jump and Hammer. The base Jump and Hammer stats are the same as the POW stat, but they can be increased individually by equipping certain gear and accessories.
Every time Mario and Luigi level up, their base stats will increase. Mario and Luigi each have their own individual stats as well as their own levels, so make sure to take a look at both these characters’ stats when they level up.
When Mario levels up, he is more likely to get bigger increases to BP, POW, and SPEED, making him the more offense-oriented brother. It’s best to have Mario attack every time it’s his turn in order to make good use of his good offenses.
Be extra careful when dodging and countering enemy attacks using Mario, since he may not be able to take as many attacks as Luigi.
Luigi is the more defense-oriented brother, with stat growths that favor HP, DEF, and STACHE. Luigi is better to use than Mario for support roles such as using items in order to let Mario focus on getting big hits in.

Battle Plug | Effect |
---|---|
Spirited Item | Using an item can boost various stats. |
You can also get a temporary stat increase while in combat if you have the Spirited Item Plug equipped. This allows you to get a stat boost if you use any item during the battle.
Gloves, accessories, and gear such as shoes, hammers, and overalls can affect your stats as well as add special battle effects such as conditional stat boosts and recovery effects.
Wearing equipment is the best way to augment your stats without having to grind for levels. Gear can be purchased from Gear Shops, which are marked by a sign showing a pair of blue overalls.
Battle Plugs can increase your damage output, inflict status effects on enemies, restore HP, or recover BP. They need to be recharged after a couple of uses, but it is always recommended to have Battle Plugs equipped.
You can create Battle Plugs using Sprite Bulbs, and more Battle Plugs can be unlocked as you create.

Rank Powers can be unlocked upon reaching new ranks when leveling up to specific levels. These can influence the stat growths and the general build of the brothers.
You can choose one Rank Power for Mario and one for Luigi every time they rank up. Take note that Rank Powers are permanent and cannot be changed. You can only add to them once you rank up again.
To have more influence on the brothers’ stat growths, it is recommended to choose Rank Powers that affects stats, such as HP Up+, STACHE Up+, SPEED Up+, POW Up+, and DEF Up+. These are great to get early on, since these guarantee an extra point in the stat of your choice every time the character levels up.
If you want to make Mario more balanced, you can opt to give him HP Up+ or DEF Up+, or you can make him even more of an offensive threat by giving him POW Up+.
Luigi can be made even bulkier with HP Up+ or DEF Up+, but if you’d prefer it if the brothers don’t feel too different, you can augment his attack stat instead with POW Up+. Make sure to select Rank Powers that align with your playstyle!
You can see the current stats of Mario and Luigi by looking at either the Stats menu, the Items menu, or the Gear menu.
The Stats menu includes the current level and EXP of Mario and Luigi, the currently equipped Gear, and the rank-up bonuses, so this is the best place to check if you want a full breakdown of the brothers’ combat capabilities.
