Limited-Time Special Quest

A Dear Friend is a special quest that must be completed before a certain point in the story. Once this quest is unlocked, it is highly recommended to do it immediately before progressing the main story any further.

Limited-time quests will disappear upon progressing the story, and you will be unable to complete them for the rest of your playthrough.

Unlocked After Completing Offandon Island

After you complete Offandon Island, you will be able to find this side quest on Shipshape Island. Automatically available in order to start A Dear Friend.

If this side quest doesn’t appear for you after you return to Shipshape Island from Offandon Island, you may need to progress the story a little bit.

Enter Offandon Island Plaza in Disguise

MLB Offandon Island Disguise

Travel to Offandon Island and use the nearby Green Pipe to fast-travel to the Island Plaza. Once there, put on your disguises to freely move around the plaza.

Approach Buddy

MLB Approach Buddy

Head south of the plaza and approach Buddy to listen in on a conversation between Kamek and Bowser Jr. After a lengthy cutscene, the quest will be complete.

A Dear Friend Rewards

Heart Bean DX and Stache Bean

Reward Description
Stache BeanStache Bean x2 Adds 1 to STACHE.
Heart Bean DXHeart Bean DX x1 Adds 3 to max HP.

After completing A Dear Friend, you will be rewarded with a Heart Bean DX and 2 Stache Beans.
