Bowser Strategy |
---|
|
Bowser can easily overwhelm you with his minions and own attacks so you got to end this as fast as you can. Spam your strongest Bros. Attacks like Bomb Derby (Clockout Blow's random targeting makes it ineffective as minions are always present) and Yoo Who Cannon to make the most out of your turns.
This will still be a grueling fight even with the Bros. Attacks spam and you will need both HP and BP recovery items to endure the relentless assault. Stock up on all kinds of consumables including Refreshing Herbs and 1-Up Mushrooms before entering Bowser's chamber.
Bowser's minions are the most annoying (though they make the fight more interesting) part of the boss battle. They each get their turns on wearing you down and dragging the fight and are always resummoned!
The best way to deal with them is just focus on Bowser while trying to reduce the minions' numbers with area attacks.
You can also take them out one by one through counters during their own turns! When a Koopa attacks, time your jump so you land on the Koopa then use the shell to pick off the other minions.
The attack that you should look out for the most is the follow-up charged punch after Bowser sends his minions at you one by one.
Getting hit by this punch removes the Bro from the battlefield for a few turns, which sucks because it will still result in a Game Over if the remaining Bro got downed, even if the knocked off Bro still has HP.
Bowser will enter his enraged state at around 40% HP. While in this state, Bowser will have extended attacks that will require you to stay focused on dodging and countering for a longer time.
Bowser Attack Patterns |
---|
|
How to Dodge | Jump on one of the steel balls to gain elevation. This makes it easier to dodge Bowser's flame breath. |
---|---|
How to Counter | This cannot be countered |
How to Dodge | This series of attack is full of fake outs to bait you into jumping early. In the slam attack, jump when Bowser spins midair. In the flamethrower attack, jump when flames start coming out of his mouth. In the sweep attack, jump when he twists his body to his left. |

---|---|
How to Counter | Swing your Hammer to deflect the shells and Bowser. Bowser will bounce and try to hit the other Bro when he's hit by a Hammer. Successfully countering this attack makes Bowser fall on his shell, making his minions bump into him and deal damage. |
How to Dodge | Jump to avoid the Goomba, Bob-Omb, and Spiny (be careful not to step on the Bob-Omb and Spiny as they will deal damage!) and stay still if it's a Paratroopa. |
---|---|
How to Counter | Jumping on the Goomba and Paratroopa sends them back to Bowser, dealing damage. Jumping on Bowser when he does the charged punch does damage as well. |
