Location | Soli-Tree |

Reclusa is a boss encountered at the end of Soli-Tree. The battle against Reclusa is a long and grueling one, so make sure you're well prepared before riding the lift that takes you to the upper level.
Reclusa Strategy |
---|
|
The fight against Reclusa begins with a sequence where you chase him while avoiding enemies along the path and shooting down incoming fire balls and ice balls.
If you bump into a Doom Gloom, Mario and Luigi will fall from the plug and enter a fight. Win the fight to continue chasing Reclusa.
Eventually during the chase, Reclusa will face you and envelop himself in either a fire cloud or an ice cloud. You must destroy this first by using an attack of the opposite type (use fire balls if he has an ice shield up) then charge a Bro Bomb to stun Reclusa.
Reclusa will remain stunned in the following battle, allowing you to use your powerful moves to deplete his health bar as much as you can. The chase will resume if he still has health when he regains consciousness. Otherwise, the fight will enter its second phase.
Four Doom Blooms will be Reclusa's vanguard in the second fight while he attacks from behind them at intervals. You don't actually have to wipe out all four Doom Blooms to move on. You only need to defeat the Doom Bloom with Snoutlet inside.
Freeing Snoutlet unlocks the Luigi's Logic command block for Luigi, which, when used, opens another sequence where Mario and Luigi flies up to Reclusa's head.
Take note that Snoutlet will be passed to another Doom Bloom after every cycle and you will have a different target to take down to free Snoutlet. The best way to handle this is having one Bro use party-wide Bros. Attack to weaken all the Doom Blooms while the other uses single target Bros. Attack to deal fatal blows.
You will again ride the plug and fly up Reclusa's trunk after using Luigi's Logic. Equipped with fire and ice, Mario and Luigi must destroy the incoming attacks from Reclusa for the last time while dodging obstacles along the way.
In this climb, your focus should be on dodging the obstacles as you will enter another round against the four Doom Blooms if you bumped into one of them. You can just alternate between fire and ice balls real fast to deal with Reclusa's attacks or shoot them when they enter your vision.
When you're close to Reclusa's head, he will fire a huge sphere that you should counter with a Bro Bomb. Successfully destroying it finishes the current phase and lets you fight the real final boss of the game inside the tree.
Reclusa Strategy |
---|
|
The Weeping Core will "analyze" a Bros. Attack the first time it's used against it. Using the same Bros. Attack a second time will complete the analysis and subsequent uses of it will deal very little damage as the Weeping Core will Guard all of its hits.
Battle Plug | Effect |
---|---|
Waitaminnit | When your regular turn ends, grants you one extra turn. |
Consider using the Waitaminnit Battle Plug on the Bro with the highest Power stat throughout the final battle and make him use his strongest Bros. Attack twice. Just don't forget to plug it out first during the other Bro's turn!
You'll want to finish the fight as soon as possible since Reclusa's attacks progressively get harder to dodge and counter, especially when he enters an enraged state on his last cable.
How to Get Waitaminnit and Effects
After defeating Reclusa in his final form, he will try to take Mario and Luigi down with him by collapsing the floor as a last resort. He won't be able to attack you in any way during the fall, but you must finish him off for good through multiple charged hits.
Just hold still while the Bond power is charging up then press the X button when Mario and Luigi glows. This will make the combine Hammer hits deal thousands of damage!
Consecutive successful hits reduce the charge time and ramp up the damage, which you will need to deplete Reclusa's massive health pool that came out of nowhere.
Reclusa Attack Patterns |
---|
|
How to Dodge | Have Mario and Luigi jump as the hand passes by. If a Bro is caught during the sweep, have the other Bro catch him when Reclusa throws him. |
---|---|
How to Counter | This attack cannot be countered. |
How to Dodge | This attack cannot be dodged. |
---|---|
How to Counter | Swing the Hammer as a fruit reaches Mario or Luigi. Both Bros should swing their Hammers if the fruit is aimed at the middle. |
How to Dodge | This attack cannot be dodged. |
---|---|
How to Counter | Smash the ice balls as it reaches Mario and Luigi. Both Bro should swing their Hammers at the same time when the giant fire ball is about to hit them. |
How to Dodge | Jump as a spike passes below Mario and Luigi. Watch out for direction changes while dodging. |
---|---|
How to Counter | This attack cannot be countered. |
How to Dodge | This attack cannot be dodged. |
---|---|
How to Counter | Swing your Hammer when Weeping Core is about to roll over a Bro. If the first Bro Weeping Core attacks successfully counters the roll, he will be targeted again on the third roll. If all rolls are countered, a final attack will be launched that requires both Hammers to counter. |
How to Dodge | Immediately jump each time he launches a small sphere. There's a short delay for each arm swing, but you should dodge the moment his arm moves. |
---|---|
How to Counter | Swing your Hammer as soon as he drops the large sphere. The enraged version of this large sphere is imbued with fire and will have a significantly longer charge time. |
How to Dodge | This attack cannot be dodged. |
---|---|
How to Counter | Memorize which of the Reclusas locks on to which Bro then prepare to counter their spheres when they attack. |
How to Dodge | Memorize the letters shown on Reclusa's face and make the Bros jump in the same order. The correct timing of the jumps is when Reclusa swings his arms forward. |
---|---|
How to Counter | This attack cannot be countered. |
