Quest Start Location | Shipshape Island |
After you complete Jellyfish Island, you will be able to find this side quest on Shipshape Island. Talk to Dewey Fightem at the Plaza in order to start Glohm Pipegunk.
If this side quest doesn’t appear for you after you return to Shipshape Island from Jellyfish Island, you may need to progress the story a little bit.
This side quest involves defeating enemies to complete it. It is recommended to have Mario and Luigi to be at least level 43 to easily complete this quest.
You’ll need to complete the Glohm Gobblick and Glohm Sharpcask side quests before you can take on Glohm Pipegunk.
Glohm Pipegunk Quest Objectives |
---|
To start this quest, talk to Dewey Fightem, a light-green-colored Concordian wearing sunglasses that you first encountered in the Lushgreen Sea Lighthouse.
He can be found to the south of the Shipshape Island Plaza, near the three NPCs that give you advice on Battle Plug combos, Mario and Luigi’s level, and their equipment.
Make your way to Gulchrock Great Lighthouse Island. To speed up, press X to sail faster on the Ocean Map, or, if you’re traveling from a greater distance, use the Technikki Engine by pressing Y to jump directly to the island's current.
Once Shipshape Island is near Gulchrock Great Lighthouse Island, use the Big Cannon on the right side of the island to launch there.
Upon arriving at Gulchrock Great Lighthouse Island, use the Green Pipe next to the lighthouse entrance to fast-travel to Sublevel 2. From there, go through the doorway above to enter the Boss Room.

Glohm Pipegunk Tips |
---|
Head down the stairs to face Glohm Pipegunk. This Pipegink is much stronger than previous ones you've fought and has multiple phases, so be prepared!
Throughout the battle, Glohm Pipegunk will adapt its form and attacks according to the environment, so memorizing its attack patterns is crucial as they vary and can be tricky.
In the lava zone, Glohm Pipegunk shifts to its Fire form, while in the ice zone, it changes into its Icy form.
Recommended Battle Plugs | |
---|---|
Auto Ampberry | Auto Herb |
Icy Attack | Fiery Attack |
Temperature Guard | Easy-Peasy Counters |
Due to Glohm Pipegunk's constant form changes, you'll need to frequently swap your Plugs to maintain optimal power. Equip the Temperature Guard plug as a constant, as it protects against Burn and Ice status effects. Alternate between Icy Attack and Fiery Attack plugs based on Pipegunk's current form.
Additionally, Glohm Pipegunk’s attacks will inflict the Glohmed status ailment on Mario and Luigi, which disables combo moves and Bros. Attacks. To counter this, equip the Auto Ampberry plug to automatically consume an Ampberry whenever a character is inflicted, quickly removing the debuff. Once it runs out of charge, the Auto Herb plug is a good alternative.
When available, have Luigi activate the Luigi Logic attack to deal damage and stun Glohm Pipegunk. This triggers a minigame with Shun, where you must wrestle the remote from him to change the environment to the opposite of Glohm Pipegunk’s form.
This damages Glohm Pipegunk and temporarily stuns it. While it’s stunned, unleash powerful Bros. Attacks to inflict substantial damage.
Once you’ve defeated Glohm Pipegunk, make your way back out of the boss room, through the Green Pipe, then down to the Big Cannon on the south side of the Gulchrock Sea Great Lighthouse Island. You cannot use your Return Pipe to fast travel on Great Lighthouse Islands.
Use the Big Cannon to return to Shipshape Island, then speak with Dewey Fightem to complete the quest.
Reward | Description |
