Monster Mania: Level 1 Side Quest | |
---|---|
There are fearsome monsters on Merrygo Island. A champion is needed to defeat them! |
|
Unlock Requirements | Complete Great Lighthouse Island (Color-Full Sea) |
Quest Start Location | Merrygo Island |
After you complete Great Lighthouse Island (Color-Full Sea), you will be able to find this side quest on Merrygo Island. Talk to the Monster Mania member in a White Suit at the Plaza in order to start Monster Mania: Level 1.
If this side quest doesn’t appear for you after you return to Shipshape Island from Great Lighthouse Island (Color-Full Sea), you may need to progress the story a little bit.
This side quest involves defeating enemies to complete it. It is recommended to have Mario and Luigi to be at least level 23 to easily complete this quest.
Monster Mania: Level 1 Quest Objectives |
---|
To start this quest, make your way to Merrygo Island and locate Maniac Member No. 1, who stands just above the shops across the flower path. Speak to him to initiate the quest.
Krode R Tips |
---|
Once you agree to the quest, Maniac Member No. 1 will summon three Krode R enemies for you to defeat.
These tougher than usual Krode Rs boast higher defense, but they can be handled if you use the right Battle Plugs and learn how to counter or dodge them.
Battle Plug | Effect |
---|---|
Kaboom Attack | Get an EXCELLENT rating with a Jump or Hammer attack to also damage nearby targets. |
Surprise Iron Ball | When you get an EXCELLENT rating with a Jump or Hammer attack, an iron ball drops on the target to deal more damage. |
The iron balls from the Surprise Iron Ball plug appear to disregard the defense stat of the Krode R enemies, allowing them to do more damage compared to any of your other attacks.
It is recommended to have both the Surprise Iron Ball and Kaboom Attack plugs equipped so that all enemies take damage when you attack the one in the middle using either a Jump or Hammer attack.
Attack | How to Dodge / Counter |
---|---|
Ball and Chain Throw |
Wait for Krode R to spin the ball and chain twice then jump once the projectile approaches. ・If Krode R spins clockwise, have Mario jump. ・ If Krode R spins counter-clockwise, have Luigi jump. |
Pipe Throw |
Ready your hammers, and swing once the pipe gets in range. This will knock the pipe back to Krode R and deal damage to it. |
Since Krode R uses only these two attacks, it is good to note that the Ball and Chain Throw move is dodge-only, as it can’t be countered. On the other hand, the Pipe Throw move is counter-only, as it can’t be dodged.
Mastering these responses will make it much easier to overcome the Krode R set and complete the quest successfully.
