Limited-Time Special Quest

Dueling Geniuses is a special quest that must be completed before a certain point in the story. Once this quest is unlocked, it is highly recommended to do it immediately before progressing the main story any further.

Limited-time quests will disappear upon progressing the story, and you will be unable to complete them for the rest of your playthrough.

Unlocked After Completing Jellyfish Island

After you complete Jellyfish Island, you will be able to find this side quest on Shipshape Island. Talk to Adaphne at Shipshape Island in order to start Dueling Geniuses.

If this side quest doesn’t appear for you after you return to Shipshape Island from Jellyfish Island, you may need to progress the story a little bit.

Talk to Adaphne

To start the quest, find and talk to Adaphne. Her location will depend on the Engine you selected earlier in the game.

If you chose Technikki's Engine, Adaphne will be at the club on Jellyfish Island; if you chose Adaphne's Engine, she'll be on the western side of Shipshape Island.

Obtain the Technikki Scope Deluxe

Next, speak with Technikki to obtain the Technikki Scope Deluxe. Like Adaphne, her location depends on your earlier choice for the Engine.

If you chose Technikki's Engine, you’ll find her on the western side of Shipshape Island; if you chose Adaphne’s Engine, Technikki will be waiting for you by the beach on Jellyfish Island.

Battle Zok Troopers to Collect Zokket Alloys

You’ll need to collect 3 Zokket Alloys. These can be obtained from defeating Zok Troopers on any of the Great Lighthouse Islands. Equip a Loot Booster Battle Plug to increase the drop rate for these materials.

Return to Adaphne

Once you have 3 Zokket Alloys, return to Adaphne to complete the quest. You will receive the same reward regardless of which Engine you chose.

Dueling Geniuses Rewards

Defense Bean and Heart Bean

Reward	Description
Heart Bean x1	Adds 1 to max HP.
Defense Bean x1	Adds 1 to DEF.
Adaphnikki Boots x1	Boosts damage dealt in Jump-attack combos by 30%. JUMP +135

After completing Dueling Geniuses, Adaphne and Technikki will join forces and reward you with a pair fo Adaphnikki Boots. You will also be given a Defense Bean and Heart Bean as quest rewards.
