The first metal flower can actually be found in the beginning of the game, when Aloy first falls into the ruins and finds her Focus. Unfortunately, at that stage, the area is blocked off and can only be broken by a spear.
Head towards Mother's Watch and to the East of it, you'll find a crack or hole within the stone.
This is the entrance to the Ruin. You can make your way down from here and head down the same path young Aloy took until you find the room with the Metal Flower. You'll need to take a similar way out as before, but this time you can also grab the Power Cell hidden here for the Ancient Armory Quest.
The simplest way to grab this Metal Flower is by heading down the mountain, southwest on the map from Aloy's home. You will find a set of ropes and climbing spaces, one of these ropes will lead you to an outcropping where the Metal Flower is hidden.
Unlike the other Metal Flowers, Mark I (F) is a bit difficult to see as the icon appears greyed out on the map. This is because it is underground. Once you've found the opening indicated by the Aloy's arrow, you can jump inside.
Don't worry if you're having trouble finding it, as it is also the same location for the Ancient Armory Quest!
This flower in particular is on a small island in the middle of a Snapmaw Site. If you're looking to avoid combat, your best bet is to quickly sneak from the rock or the closest edge of the river.
The Mark II (E) Metal Flower can easily become one of the most difficult to grab if you're under leveled or unprepared. The flower is located right in the center of a Thunderjaw Site. There are usually 2 of them roaming the area.
If you are confident that you can take on 2 Thunderjaws then you can engage them from the rock outcropping, keeping your distance and allowing yourself space to escape if need be. If not, there are a few patches of grass that can be used as cover, especially if you're coming from the other side of this basin like area.
This Metal Flower will not be easy to grab without the Stormbird that patrols the area noticing your presence. There is not a lot of cover in this area and as such, you'll need to come prepared to take down the Stormbird quickly. You can also use a mount to move faster.
Depending on where you're coming from, it can be quite simple to avoid any combat with the Snapmaws in the water, but it is also quite simple to use the cliffiside as a means of taking them out from a distance.
Coming from the southern campsite, you can make your way up the large rockface, where the Metal Flower sits at the top. This is also a resting point for Glinthawks and while you could sneakily make your way past, be careful to remain near the center if you need to fight or you may be knocked off.
This Metal Flower is located at the top of a large rock formation. The area heading up is quite narrow and there are 4 Glinthawks in the area. Similar to Mark III (F), you'll either need to take out the Glinthawks carefully or take more time to cross stealthily.
Take the rope to the next rock formation and you'll find the Metal Flower here.
