As the strongest weapon in terms of physical attack, focus on opening up all physical attack or attack damage related skills first to max it out. Stagger Siphon is another very useful skill with this weapon, so unlock it when you have the chance. If you are good at parrying, unlock the Precision Defense skill as it will allow you to recover HP at the same time.
As leveling up your Materia with AP is highly necessary in the INTERmission DLC, you'll want to unlock the AP Up upgrade first to ensure you are getting as much AP as possible on all Materia throughout the game. This upgrade increases the AP yield for all Materia equipped by both Yuffie and Sonon, so it's one of the best ways to farm AP available in the DLC.
