Own the PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake and want to upgrade to Intergrade on PS5 for free? Follow our guide here to perform a save data transfer and smoothly enter a higher resolution Midgar!

If you own a physical copy of the original version of FF7 Remake for PS4, simply insert the disc into your PS5, head to the store page for FF7 Remake, and once Intergrade has been made available, select the upgrade button to receive the Final Fantasy VII Remake PS5 Enhancement update. You may also need to press the ...
button to the side to find the upgrade option.
You will need to use the same region of PlayStation Store as your copy of the game.
Similar to the physical version, head to the store page for the game (or find it on the PlayStation Store), and select the PS4 upgrade from the dropdown list! As before this will need to be done on the same region of PlayStation Store as the copy you own.
In order to play your save data for the original version of the game, you will need to select the option from the original version's title menu to carry your old save data into Intergrade. If you have Update 1.02 installed, you can go ahead and upload your save data to have it ready to download into Intergrade after it releases on June 10th.
Back in March, PlayStation Plus subscribers all received a free copy of FF7 Remake as one of the free games for the month. Unfortunately this version cannot be upgraded to Intergrade and you will need to buy the game again, be it PS4 for the upgrade or PS5 for the full bundle, in order to play Intergrade and INTERmission.
In order to play your save data for the original version of the game, you will first need to make sure the original version of FF7 Remake is fully installed on your PS4 or PS5 and on Version 1.02, then follow the steps below.
Whether you are playing the original version of the game on a PS4 or a PS5 has no effect on transferring your save data to Intergrade. As long as you complete the process from the console where you have the save data, you will be able to download the data into Intergrade.
Keep in mind you will only be able to transfer a single save file, so choose the one with the most progress. While this process is unintuitive, Sony currently doesn't have a system in place to pull the save data from, say, your PlayStation Plus cloud saves or other locations without manually uploading them.
You will then likely need to leave the original version of the game installed until you've downloaded your uploaded save data through Intergrade after its release, so be sure not to delete the original version until you have finished the process.
1 | From the title menu on the original version, select Upload Save Data. |
---|---|
2 | Select Confirm after reading the information. |
3 | Wait for your save to upload. |
4 | And you're done! Simply download your save data through Intergrade and you're all set. |
1 | From Intergrade's title menu select Download Save Data. |
---|---|
2 | Confirm the save data you uploaded is correct. |
3 | Choose an empty slot and you're good to go! |
All of your trophies earned in the PS4 version will then pop in succession.
It is required to have Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade for the Download Save Data option to appear, so those who are playing the standard Final Fantasy 7 Remake on their PS5 without upgrading cannot use this method to simply send save data from the PS4 to the PS5. You can use a USB drive or the PS5's built-in Transfer Data option if you need to do this.
Unlike purchasing FF7 Remake Intergrade directly, you will need to pay for the Yuffie Episode, INTERmission, separately. This will cost you an extra $19.99 but at least you don't have to rebuy the whole game! Once purchased simply press the R2 button from Intergrade's title menu to switch to the INTERmission menu and start up the DLC.
