Allows for excellent survivability
As the weapon's name implies, it has upgrades involving damage reduction when guarding and defensive stat boosts, in addition to elemental defense boosts. Especially after just adding Aerith to your party, you can prioritize these skills to increase Aerith's survivability, then have her learn MP up/regen and MP cost reduction skills. With this build, you can give her an auto-cure materia, then simply have her casting healing and buff skills to your party.
