Amuro Ray is a specialized pilot with a kit designed for his signature MS, the Re-GZ (Green). He will not do very well as a substitute pilot at all. This is because his most powerful buffs, namely his stacking ranged sense and EX gauge recovery buffs, are granted to mobile suits with uncommon unit category tags. These tags are Blue Mobile Suit, Second Neo Zeon War, and Transforming Unit. No other mobile suit has all three tags, and he greatly underperforms when lacking one of these three key buffs.

The Re-GZ benefits extremely well from Amuro Ray, provided that they are in a team full of EFF-Affiliated mobile suits. This is because Amuro grants a large amount of ranged sense, but grants even more the more EFF-Affiliated allies it has on its team.

More importantly, Amuro's EX gauge recovery buff is a must-have for the Re-GZ's buff uptime, which will help the EFF-Affiliated units on its team. No other pilot comes close to how well Amuro pilots the Re-GZ, provided they are complemented by a whole team of EFF-Affiliated mobile suits.
