How To Get Gears? Grade Up Guide

Grade Up Guide

Grade Up is a brand-new upgrade system in Gundam UC Engage that uses a new resource called gears to increase a mobile suit's stats and give it buffs depending on their category. Read on to learn more about Grade Up, the Grade II Stat Boosts and Grade II Skills per category, and the different ways to earn Gears.

What Is Grade Up?

F91 Grade Up

Grade Up is the newest upgrade system in Gundam UC Engage, which gives units a boost to their stats, as well as a set of permanent buffs dependent on their category.

This system requires a new special currency called Gears, and these come in different rarities and categories too. You'll need 100 Gears of the corresponding rarity and category in order to upgrade a mobile suit.

One thing to take note of is that getting gears can be quite difficult or costly, as these are typically earned as rare rewards from difficult event stages or bought from booster packs.

Because of how rare and valuable these gears are, you should only be performing Grade Up on your most important mobile suits to avoid wasted resources and low-impact investments.

Grade I vs Grade II

The-O Grade Up

Grade II units will always be stronger than their Grade I counterparts as the former benefits from stat boosts and Grade Skills. However, some units have skillsets that synergize extremely well with their category's Grade Skills, so grading them up will provide you with more value than others.

For example, one of The-O (Purple)'s few weaknesses is how Assault units that land crits can completely bypass its guard-oriented defenses. With the Grade II Armored Skills, particularly the one that reduces the crit rate of incoming attacks by 50%, the likelihood of Assault units landing crits are drastically reduced, which in turn greatly increase The-O's survivability.

That said, grading up mobile suits can cover for or erase a mobile suit's weakness to something, while always granting sizable stat boosts for every unit. For the exact numbers and buffs per category, check out the following sections below.

Rewarded During Events

Challenge Battle - Gundam UC Engage

The only way to get gears for free is by progressing through the events the game releases on a weekly basis. It is likely that not all events grant gears as rewards, similar to the other valuable resources used in the game's different upgrade systems.

The rarity and category of the gears rewarded in events are also seasonal, so spend them only on your most important mobile suits.
