Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag Remake Teased

Assassin’s Creed (AC) developer Ubisoft has laid out its plans for the franchise’s future, focusing on multiple titles going forward in 2026 and beyond. Among these updates, the studio has officially teased a remake of the fan-favorite AC IV: Black Flag.
In an article posted on AC’s official website on March 4, newly appointed series content head Jean Guesdon detailed what fans can expect with the popular stealth anthology. Following the studio’s major company reset in January, Ubisoft is now advancing its revised roadmap, with the AC IV: Black Flag remake serving as a cornerstone of its current strategy.

Labeled as "Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced", the project was revealed via new concept art and a cryptic note from Guesdon telling fans to "keep your spyglass on the horizon." While the pirate-themed project has been a subject of conversation for years, Ubisoft’s latest update provides the official confirmation fans have been waiting for.
"Speculation around Assassin's Creed is not new, but it's worth repeating: Nothing is true. Everything is permitted," Guedson stated.
Updates for Hexe, Invictus, and Jade

Moving over to Codename HEXE, the content head reassured fans that while news about the title has been scarce, their team at Ubisoft Montreal is doing its best to deliver a "unique, darker, narrative-driven Assassin’s Creed experience."
First announced in 2022, Hexe was revealed to be set in a pivotal moment in history. "We are taking the time to deliver on its ambitious vision, which means we’ll be quiet for a little longer, but we love seeing all the enthusiasm happening on our channels and can’t wait to unveil more when the time is right," Guedson said.

For Codename INVICTUS, he highlighted the project's PvP focus, steered by a team of For Honor veterans at Ubisoft Montreal. Guedson stressed that they are taking a new approach to multiplayer for the franchise, built specifically around player feedback to deliver exactly what the community has been asking for.
The developer also provided an update on the upcoming mobile title Assassin’s Creed Jade, revealing that the game will feature a cooperative multiplayer mode. He noted that the team has pivoted from its initial vision, applying key lessons from the early stages of development to refine its strategy moving forward.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows 1st Anniversary, Netflix Live-Action Series, and More

While these updates focus on future projects, Ubisoft is simultaneously finalizing support for its recent title, AC Shadows. The studio is gearing up to celebrate its first anniversary, which will be marked by a special commemorative livestream that goes live on March 20 at 10 AM PT / 6 PM CET / 1 PM ET on Ubisoft’s official Twitch channel.
This event will feature the studio’s plans for AC Shadows as they enter its final phase of support, which promises to still have a "few surprises." Furthermore, the online showcase will reveal the winners of the Parkour challenge, some drops and giveaways, and a sneak peek at what the developers have in store for the franchise.

Aside from the AC Shadows update, Ubisoft is also ramping up its efforts for the Assassin’s Creed live-action series. In partnership with Netflix, both companies aim to create "a high-octane thriller centered on the secret war between two shadowy factions — one set on determining mankind’s future through control and manipulation, while the other fights to preserve free will."
The series will star Tanzyn Crawford (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Tiny Beautiful Things), Laura Marcus (Bad Education, Death By Lightning), Zachary Hart (Slow Horses, Black Doves Season 2), Lola Petticrew (Say Nothing, Tuesday), and Toby Wallace (Euphoria Season 3, The Society).

To cap things off, Ubisoft also has one final surprise for Assassin’s Creed fans, bringing a free 60 FPS patch for AC Unity on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, set to launch tomorrow. Additionally, multiple AC games will be playable for free during Xbox Free Play Days, scheduled from April 2 to 6.
With a clear roadmap and a diverse slate of projects, Ubisoft is positioning itself to revitalize its flagship franchise and be at the forefront of the stealth-action genre. After a period of internal restructuring, the studio is finally stepping out of the shadows with a vision that honors the series' past while boldly charting its future
