Super Mario RPG Remake - How to Farm EXP and Level Up Fast
Level up your party members fast in Super Mario RPG Remake by knowing the best ways to farm EXP. Read on to learn about the best EXP farming locations and methods, ways to make farming more efficient, and the best level to finish the game.

How to Farm EXP Efficiently

Super Mario RPG - Level Up Screen

Before beginning to farm experience, there's a couple of things to note to make your EXP farming more efficient.

  1. Equip the Exp. Booster Accessory
  2. Obtain the Strongest Equipment that You Can Get

Equip the Exp. Booster Accessory

Super Mario RPG Remake - Buy Exp. Booster

If you're going to be farming experience, it's important to have the Exp. Booster accessory equipped to make farming more efficient. Exp. Booster is an accessory that doubles the experience gained of the character that equips it. This works even when not in battle!

You can get this accessory by buying it from Frog Sage's Student at Seaside Town for 22 Frog Coins.

If you're going to use the methods that involve repeatedly defeating enemies in battle, make it more efficient by getting the strongest equipment that you can put your hands on. Stronger equipment means you'll defeat the enemies faster.

Best Ways to EXP Farm and Level Up Fast

Super Mario RPG - Exp Screen
In general, defeating the strongest enemies is the best way to gain experience, so the final world is the best place to farm by normally doing battles. However, there's an exploit that allows you to repeatedly defeat enemies without battling!

  1. Defeat the Machine Made Enemies in the Final World
  2. Find All the Invincibility Stars

Defeat the Machine Made Enemies in the Final World

Super Mario RPG - Machine Made Speardovich

The Machine Made enemies in the final world, the Weapon World, are the regular enemies that give the most experience when defeated, so if you have access to them, the best way to farm experience and level up is repeatedly defeating these enemies.

In particular, the Machine Made Speardovich will provide the most experience, so take this into account when farming in this area!

Find All the Invincibility Stars

Using an Invincibility Star is one the best ways to grind for EXP quickly, since it allows you to immediately defeat mobs of enemies without engaging them in battle.

Sadly, the trick to reuse Invincibility Stars is not available in the Remake, as EXP will also be reset upon returning to a save after getting a Game Over unlike the original. However, Invincibility Stars are still a great way to get EXP fast, so finding all the ones you may have missed can help level up your party quickly.

Invincibility Star Exploit

Invincibility Stars have an exploit that allows you to easily gain experience and levels when you spot one in the SNES version of Super Mario RPG. The best place to do this is with the star in Belome Temple.

# Step-by-Step Guide
1 Save Near the Box with the Star
Find an invincibility star that you want to exploit. Then, before using that star, save your game at the nearest save point.
2 Use the Star and Defeat as Many Enemies as Possible
Get the star, then bump and defeat into as much enemies as you can. While doing this, find the most efficient path to defeating the most enemies and take note of it for future runs.
3 Allow Yourself to be Defeated
After the star wears off, allow yourself to be defeated. Go to a powerful enemy such as a boss; remove your equipment if necessary to make it easier.
4 After Respawning, Repeat the Process
Once your party is wiped out, you'll respawn at the save point that you last saved, just before getting the star. Even though your party got wiped out, you keep the experience, and the star is still there to be taken, allowing you to start the process again. You can do this method as much as you like!

Equipment is More Important Than Character Level

Super Mario RPG Remake - Equipment is More Important Than Character Level
You shouldn't just focus on your level; in the game, equipment is more powerful than character levels, so those are what you should focus on first. If you have the strongest equipment possible equipped to your party, you can easily clear the game at around level 15!

Is There a Level Cap?

Level 30 is the Maximum

The maximum level that characters can reach in the game is 30; after a character reaches level 30, they won't get experience anymore.

You likely won't finish the game by reaching level 30 with any character by playing normally, but you can aim to reach it by using the farming method above.

Invincibility star leveling seems to be removed as it makes you pick save/autosave and the level doesn’t rise. Unless I missed something.
