Should You Confess to Stealing Treasures?

Get Both Forest Maze Secret Path and House Treasures Before Confessing

Confessing is the best thing to do. But it will need to be done following specific instructions below will lead to the best outcome of this event, which involves following the Forest Maze Secret Path first, stealing the treasures after, and finally confessing to stealing them. Make sure to follow them carefully or else the rewards outcome will be altered!

This route rewards the most Frog Coins which are used to buy valuable items from the Frog Coin Emporium in Tadpole Pond and rare equipment from the Frog Coin Shop in Seaside Town.

*Having multiple Mushroom chests won't do anything since you'd only ever need one to fully recover, so outcomes with multiple of these are comparatively bad results.

5th Order is the Best Order to Follow

Following the 5th order listed above, wherein you'll begin collecting all the treasures in the Forest Maze, then proceeding to the house to gather all the treasures from the chests there, and finally allowing the Toad to enter the house and confess to stealing the treasures, will result in the best possible rewards.

Again, diverging from the route above will alter rewards, such as preventing the Treasure Hunter from giving you an extra Frog Coin.

How to Get the Best Rewards

Obtain Forest Maze Treasures

Forest Maze Directions (Starting from Maze Area Save Point)
①	Enter Upper-Left Exit
②	Enter Lower-Left Exit
③	Enter Lower-Left Ext
④	Enter Upper-Left Exit
⑤	Return to Rose Town (Repeatedly Take Lower-Left Exits)
Forest Maze Treasures
Flower Chest x3 Frog Coin x1 Mushroom Chest x1

Proceed to through the Forest Maze and follow the directions above. Entering the last exit will lead Mario to the Treasure Room.

Obtain the treasures in the room and return to Rose Town. One quick way to exit the maze when lost is by taking the Lower-Left Exits, which usually sends Mario back to the maze entrance.

Enter the Elevated House

In Rose Town, there will be a Toad, a Treasure Hunter, walking beside an elevated patch land who will ask Mario to help him get to his house.

To climb up to the house, jump on top of the Toad and then jump onto the elevated land. Go inside and there will be two Treasure Boxes, each containing a Flower.

At second floor of the house is Treasure Hunter's son and a green button that activates a stairway for the Treasure Hunter. Do not press this button yet as it will change the reward outcome.

Take the Flowers

Open the chests and take the Flowers, then exit the house without talking to Treasure Hunter.

If you lower the staircase for the Treasure hunter by pressing down the green button at the second floor, you will be forced to answer his question about his Treasure Boxes.

Press the Green Button to Enable Stairway

Climb the up the Treasure Hunter's house through the same method again (by jumping on the Toad), enter the building and go up the second floor.

Press the green button in this room to enable the stairway for the Treasure Hunter, then head outside trigger the Treasure Hunter's dialogue.

Confess to Stealing the Treasure

Follow the dialogue options above and the Treasure Hunter will accept your confession. He will be impressed that you have found the treasures in the Forest Maze without his help, and will give you a Frog Coin.

If you let the Toad into his house before getting the Forest Maze treasures, he will give you a hint for where to find the treasure (if you confess to stealing the treasure or refrain from stealing them), and he will not give you a Frog Coin even after you find the Forest Maze treasure.
