Resident Evil Requiem - Death Penalty What Happens When You Die

You restart from your last save point when you die in Resident Evil Requiem (RE9). Read this guide to learn what happens when you die in the game.

What Happens When You Die?

Restart from the Last Save Point When You Die

You Are Dead

You will respawn where you had your last save if you die in Resident Evil Requiem. If you're in Standard Modern or Casual difficulty, always make sure to use the typewriter when you find one so you can save your progress.

Note that if you are in Standard Classic or Insanity mode, you will need to find ink ribbons that you can use to save in the game.

Auto-Saves Count as a Restarting Point

In Standard Modern or Casual difficulty, the game will automatically save on certain points in the story, like when switching between Grace and Leon or after viewing some cutscenes.

Lower Your Difficulty to Casual If You're Struggling

If you're on the Standard Modern, you have the option to lower your difficulty to Casual after dying a few times during the playthrough. If you just want to progress through the story at that point, then we suggest lowering the difficulty.

Note that you won't be able to change it again to Standard Modern. This can affect the achievements you can get as you play through the game.
