What is the Canon Ending

The good ending is the canon ending of Resident Evil Requiem (RE9). Read on to learn more about why the good ending is the canon ending of the game.

Spoiler Warning This article details events that happen during the two endings of Resident Evil Requiem. It will contain major story spoilers beyond this point!

What is the Canon Ending?

The Good Ending is the Canon Ending

Fortunately, choosing to Release Elpis is the canon ending for RE Requiem since it is the only ending that rewards you with a trophy on completion. It is also the only ending that allows you to fight Victor Gideon and his later Nemesis form in what is the game's true final boss battle.

Additionally, the two post-credits scenes (one with Grace and the other with the mysterious mercenaries) only make sense if you got the good ending of RE9. Both scenes would be impossible in the bad ending since Grace won't be able to cure Emily and the ARK facility will be fully destroyed in that ending.

How to Get the Good Ending

Bad Ending Leaves Many Unresolved Plot Threads

If you chose the bad ending by Destroying Elpis, the game ends with far too many plot threads unresolved. For example, without Elpis, the fate of both Sherry Birkin and Emily are sealed since both will die without the cure.

Similarly, Zeno's fate will be a bit more vague since he retains his powers despite plunging to his apparent death alongside Leon's corpse in the ARK facility.
