Resident Evil Requiem (RE9)

Does Leon Kennedy Die?

Add to Watchlist

Does Leon Kennedy Die

In Resident Evil Requiem (RE9), Leon Kennedy shows signs of being infected by the T-virus early in the game. Read on to learn whether or not he dies at the end of RE9.

Spoiler Warning This article details events that happen during the ending of Resident Evil Requiem. It will contain major story spoilers beyond this point!

Does Leon Kennedy Die?

Leon Does Not Die in the True Ending

Resident Evil Requiem (RE9) has two different endings and Leon does not die if you choose RE9's True Ending. To get the true ending, make sure to choose the option to Release Elpis after Grace and Leon make their way back to the central console of the ARK facility.

Doing this will prompt Zeno to use the newly released Elpis on himself, effectively "curing" himself of his superhuman powers. Meanwhile, Grace will use one of the syringes to cure Leon of his T-virus infection.

Naturally, this prompts the appearance of RE9's true final boss: Victor Gideon. After he beheads the now "human" Zeno, he stabs Grace and kicks off the final boss fight. After defeating him, Grace and Leon are rescued by the BSAA.

Endings Guide: How to Get All Endings

Leon Only Dies if You Choose to Destroy Elpis

However, if you do choose to Destroy Elpis in keeping with Leon's wishes, the facility and the central platform will start self-destructing. Grace manages to escape, but Leon remains stuck on the platform alongside a now pissed off Zeno.

Grace then has to watch a one-sided fight between the two before Leon is ultimately overpowered and summarily executed by Zeno (with a hand cannon blast to the 'noggin).

In this alternate ending, Grace still gets rescued by what looks to be the same BSAA agents in the true ending. The ARK facility still gets destroyed but Leon dies and Sherry probably succumbs to her T-virus infection.
