How to Dismiss Summon
Pray at a Shrine then Return to Title Screen (Best Method)

| 2 |  Go to the System tab on the right of the pause menu, and select Return to Title Screen at the bottom. Reload your game to return without the summon. |
The most reliable way to dismiss a summoned Benevolent Spirit is to pray at any Shrine to save your game, then open the pause menu and select Return to Title Screen. After reloading, you will be back at the Shrine with the Benevolent Spirit desummoned.
It is vital to pray at a Shrine first to save, as returning to the title screen does not automatically save. Outside of mission checkpoint autosaves, Shrines and Bodhisattva Statues are the only ways to save your progress.

Let the Benevolent Spirit Die
Another way to dismiss a Benevolent Spirit is to let it die in combat. Fighting a Bloody Grave Revenant is a good option, as you can also collect Ochoko Cups from the weakened Red Revenant afterward. This method is much slower, since Benevolent Spirits are tough and can heal themselves with at least one Elixir.
If you do this method, make sure to pay attention to the fight as the hostile/s may aggro against you all of a sudden. If this happens, you can dodge and run away until your Benevolent Spirit takes the aggro back.
Dying Near a Shrine
The last method to get rid of the summon is to purposefully die, ideally near a Shrine so you can collect your Grave easier. It is also best to die with the environment, such as jumping in lava or off a cliff, to not have your Grave exposed near enemies. This works similarly to the Title Screen method, although you will have to risk your Grave, so proceed with caution.
