Nioh 3 - How to Beat Takeda Shingen

Takeda Shingen is a boss in Nioh 3 during the Warring States Era. See how to beat Takeda Shingen, as well as the weaknesses, drops, and location in this guide.

How to Beat Takeda Shingen

Takeda Shingen Boss Fight Tips

Punish His Long Recovery Times

Takeda Shingen has lengthy recovery times after attacking, similar to the first encounter with Yamagata Masakage.

His wide sweeping attacks can easily be punished with quick attacks after blocking or deflecting. Samurai style's mid stance is recommended when playing defensively as it lets you regenerate Ki while holding block.

Exploit Red Attacks

Takeda Shingen's red attacks strike directly forward and are easy to anticipate. A perfectly timed Burst Break is a reliable way to open him up for attacks and deal significant damage to both his Ki and health.

Sidestep His Grab Attack

Takeda Shingen's grab attack is highly telegraphed and you can easily avoid it by sidestepping. Follow up with a few hits but do not overcommit.

Note that he can do his grab attack from a distance, and you may have to dodge towards him depending on your weapon's reach.

Evade Guardian Spirit Attacks

Get ready to dodge when Takeda Shingen plants his spear on the ground and summons his Guardian Spirit.

He may attack alongside his Guardian Spirit, quickly depleting your Ki if you block and leaving you vulnerable.

Farm Levels and Better Gear

If you're still struggling with Takeda Shingen, don't hesitate to farm some levels and equip better gear before trying again.

Summon Assistance from Acolytes

Summon an acolyte from nearby benevolent graves to serve as a distraction and help deal chip damage. You'll need Ochoko Cups to summon acolytes, which you can obtain by defeating revenants from bloody graves.

Use Talismans and Items for Buffs

Use talismans and items such as Power Talismans and Power Pills to boost your attack. Note that they do not stack and only refresh the duration of the attack buff.

Takeda Shingen's Guardian Spirit lets him use both fire and wind attacks, mostly favoring fire. Use Firestop Talismans to boost your resistance against fire damage.
