Demon of Pride Weakness and How to Beat

Add to Watchlist

Demon of Prides weakness is Lightning damage

Demon of Pride is a boss that is weak against Lightning in Nioh 3. See how to beat Demon of Pride, as well as the weaknesses, drops, and location in this guide.

How to Beat Demon of Pride

Demon of Pride Boss Fight Tips

Weak Against Lightning

The Demon of Pride is weak against Lightning damage. Sources of Lightning damage include:

  1. Martial Arts and weapons imbued with Lightning
  2. Uncanny Bolt Ninjutsu
  3. Lightning Familiar and Lightning Shot Talismans
  4. Summoning Seal from Ibaraki Doji's Soul Core

Level 100+ Recommended

The Demon of Pride is an optional boss with a much higher difficulty spike than other encounters at this point. The recommended level to face him comfortably is around level 100.

You can encounter him as soon as you defeat the Great Tengu in the mission The Age of Clans (recommended level 53). While the boss is difficult to fight that early, it is still doable at around level 80+ with decent gear.

Use Guardian Spirit Skills Against Red Attacks

The Demon of Pride's red attacks have unusually long wind-ups. Style Shift Burst Breaks are risky because you have to wait for the attacks to launch, and whiffing the timing is often fatal.

Instead, use Guardian Spirit Skills to shut down red attacks during the wind-up. Make sure your Guardian Spirit Skills are always ready to be used.

Stay in Melee Range

Stick close to the Demon of Pride during the fight, as he is likely to use its deadly water attacks if you create distance.

Its melee attacks are more manageable, but you'll still need to watch out for its stomping attack and water bombs. This also puts you in a position to quickly counter its red attacks.

Stack Water Resistance

Look through your inventory and equip gear that have Water Resistance, but don't sacrifice too much base defense. High defense remains more important for survivability.

Use Hit-and-Run Tactics

Do not get greedy and overcommit to attacks. Make sure to always have some Ki reserved to evade or block attacks.

Secure with Living Artifact

Keep your Living Artifact ready to secure the kill during the second half of the fight when the boss becomes more aggressive. You're invulnerable while in this state but you must still dodge or block because sustaining damage shortens its duration.

You also have unlimited Ki while Living Artifact is active. Use this to spam your most potent Martial Arts.

Summon Assistance from Acolytes

Summon an acolyte from nearby benevolent graves to serve as a distraction and help deal chip damage. You'll need Ochoko Cups to summon acolytes, which you can obtain by defeating revenants from bloody graves.

Use Talismans and Items for Buffs

Use talismans and items such as Power Talismans and Power Pills to boost your attack. Note that they do not stack and only refresh the duration of the attack buff.
