 Fast travel to the Shijo Abandoned Shrine in Shijo and follow the road west until you run into Takasugi Shinsaku. Past him, you must follow the left-side path upwards. |
| 2 |
 As you proceed, you will enter an Enemy Base. Clear this base to unlock the nearby Shrine, then continue across the roofs to reach the end of the path. Enter the arena and fight against the yokai Enenra. |

 After defeating Enenra, you can keep going up the path ahead to a shrine and the entrance to the Crucible. |

 Enter the Crucible at the Honnoji Temple. A Bodhisattva statue will be up ahead. |
| 5 |
 From the statue, turn left to the lamp lit by Kusanagi's light, and then go right around the buried roof towards a house with a broken wall and another lamp. |

 Outside, there's a large, dead tree trunk you can knock over to create a shortcut back to the statue. |

 Go down the left cave entrance guarded by a Magatsu Warrior yokai. This leads to an underground path partially made out of a giant centipede body. |

 This will eventually lead down through a broken house, to its lower floor, and into a smaller cave path littered with bones. A Crucible Wraith Jailer-Oni (Needle) can also be encountered here. |

 At the end of the path is a Spirit Vein you can take to another broken-down house. There is a path inside the house that leads upwards to the next lamp and a closed gate you can open. |

 Follow the path past the lamp until you get to a large courtyard, where an Itsumade yokai will spawn to guard the house ahead. Defeat the yokai and go into the house to pray at the statue. |

 From the house, go up the ledge to the left where there is a spinning mechanism you can shoot down. Go around the stone walls until you find the open gates. Through there, you can climb up the centipede path, which eventually splits into two. |

 The right-side path leads down to the roof of the house where the statue is, and you can kick down a ladder for a later shortcut. The left-side path continues on to a wall with a Spirit Vein. |
| 14 |
 Traverse the Spirit Vein and keep walking the centipede path back to solid ground, where there is a shrine beside a dilapidated house. You can crouch through a hole in the side of the house to get to a hot spring. |

 Past the statue is another centipede path, which leads to a large building marked by two lamps. Enter the building to challenge the boss, Nuribotoke! |
| 16 |
 After defeating Nuribotoke, cleanse the Honnoji Temple Crucible and talk to Takasugi Shinsaku and Himiko to complete the mission. |
