Nioh 3 - How to Beat Takeda Shingen Yokai

How to Beat Takeda Shingen (Yokai)

Takeda Shingen (Yokai) Boss Fight Tips

Prioritize Dodging Over Blocking

Takead Shingen's combos can easily overwhelm you and quickly deplete your Ki if you block. Focus on dodging towards his rear and try to get some quick hits in.

Use Hit-and-Run Tactics

Fight with hit-and-run tactics while he still has plenty of Ki. Strike only after successfully dodging his attacks and don't get greedy.

Once his Ki is drained, go all out since he will flinch from your attacks, then back off when he recovers.

Break His Horn in the Dark Realm

Takeda Shingen's horn becomes vulnerable in the Dark Realm. Use Ninjutsu, such as kunai and shuriken, to break it and take a huge chunk off his Ki. The horn can also be broken by most high stance attacks and jump attacks.

Punish Grab Attack's Long Recovery

Takeda Shingen's grab attack has a long wind-up and is easy to avoid if you keep your distance. Sidestep the grab and counter as he recovers.

Wind Attacks Have a Slight Delay

Takeda Shingen's wind attacks can be tricky to dodge because of the slight delay before impact. Try not to dodge too early if you see his arms glow green.

Burst Break Into Red Attacks

Claw Swipe

This red attack gets easier to counter the farther you are from him. Simply wait for him to approach, then counter and punish.

Ground Slam

Takeda Shingen winds up for a ground slam but he remains stationary. Burst Break towards him right before it lands.

Farm Levels and Better Gear

If you're still struggling with Takeda Shingen, don't hesitate to farm some levels and equip better gear before trying again.

Summon Assistance from Acolytes

Summon an acolyte from nearby benevolent graves to serve as a distraction and help deal chip damage. You'll need Ochoko Cups to summon acolytes, which you can obtain by defeating revenants from bloody graves.

Use Talismans and Items for Buffs

Use talismans and items such as Power Talismans and Power Pills to boost your attack. Note that they do not stack and only refresh the duration of the attack buff.

Firestop Talismans are helpful in mitigating the fire damage that he uses in most attacks.
