| Choose the Ninja (blue) variant of Kusanagi when you first reach the Rift in the tutorial. If the Samurai variant was chosen at the beginning, the Ninja version will be unlocked after completing The Spirit Tree Village main mission. |

During the starting tutorial mission, The Fall of Edo Castle, you will choose between the Ninja or Samurai version of Kusanagi. Selecting the blue Kusanagi gives you the Ninja version and also grants +1 Skill. You can still obtain the Samurai version later in the story.
The Fall of Edo Castle Walkthrough

In Antiquity, a later area in the game, you get Calamity's Seed main mission with The Spirit Tree Village objective. Completing this mission rewards you with the version of Kusanagi that you did not choose at the start.

Lunge forward a great distance, dealing Water damage to all enemies in your path as you pass through them.
The Kusanagi's Ninja variant helps the style flourish with air mobility, with reduced Ki consumption when jumping, synergizing well with increased quick attack and aerial damage. Its Guardian Spirit skills are also highly mobile, offering excellent movement, range, and damage output.
