How to Beat Jakotsu-baba
To beat Jakotsu-baba, focus on blocking its sweeping attacks and countering with quick strikes before disengaging. Follow this step-by-step strategy to win the encounter:
- Block Wide Sweeping Attacks

Use Lightning and Wind Damage
Jakotsu-baba is weak against Lightning and Wind damage. Early sources of Lightning damage include the Uncanny Bolt Ninjutsu and Thunder Shot Talismans.
Block Wide Sweeping Attacks
Jakotsu-baba is fairly aggressive with quick, wide-sweeping attacks, which are usually safer to block than to dodge. Blocking in Samurai style's mid stance is highly effective and allows you to counterattack safely. You'll also be able to purify Yokai Realms while in Samurai style!
Note: The amount of Ki consumed when blocking is reduced by the Toughness stat in armor pieces.
Break the Amrita Crystal on Her Head
When Jakotsu-baba enters the Dark Realm phase, an Amrita crystal will emerge from her head. Break the crystal to deal massive damage to her Ki.
You can simply strike it when she isn't attacking and her head is hanging low. If you can't reach it, try to use Samurai style's high stance attacks, Ninja style's kunai, or jump attacks.
Uses Grab Attack at Mid to Long Range
Jakotsu-baba will sometimes use its unblockable grab attack if you stay at a distance. It has a lengthy wind up time and can be easily avoided by sidestepping.
Exploit Red Attacks with Style Shift Burst Break
Jakotsu-baba has multiple red attacks that you can take advantage of to quickly break her Ki. Their long winds-ups give you plenty of time to react.
