By both i mean, on difficulties lower than Hard you will not need to stagger. But on Hard Mode you will need to stagger first.
It's actually both. You need to kill a staggered Spirit to pressure the Spectre. And it's fairly easy. Just throw any offensive spell and it will pressure the spirit and you just need to focus thrust or focus strike until staggered. You can easily finish this fight in only 2 minutes .
You need to stagger the mysterious spirits, that pressures the enigmatic. Problem on hard is that you tend to kill the spirits before staggering then... Went through 15 before staggering my first one.
That's because you don't actually have to defeat him... You just have to fill up the stagger bar, after that the fight ends.
I'm fighting it on hard, and it just heals itself for 96 every second. I can't damage him. This is stupid. No guides mention this ability. What the ****.
Physical attacks are ok once it's staggered. The important point is just to defeat a Mysterious Spectre first - once you've done that it will be vulnerable to different attacks including Limit Breaks. Hope that helps!
