The ship is unlocked after defeating the monsters at the Mountains North of Rippleport in Dragon Quest 2 HD-2D Remake (DQ2). Learn how to get the ship and what to do after getting it here!

How to Unlock the Ship

Available in Rippleport

The ship can be received as a reward for helping a NPC in trouble with a monster in Rippleport. After defeating the enemies at the Mountains North of Rippleport, return and talk to the old man by the port to receive your ship.

What to Do After Getting the Ship

Exchange Mini Medals at the Isle of the Monarch of Medals

DQ2 - Isle of the Monarch of Medals World Map

After obtaining the ship, head to Isle of the Monarch of Medals and exchange the mini medals you have collected so far. Once you go there by ship, it'll become one of your Zoom teleport points.

You can obtain powerful weapons and accessories depending on the number of mini medals you have collected. You can also change the names of the main character and companions on the island.

Slime Island hosts multiple Liquid Metal Slimes. Access the area by ship, and then climbing over the rock wall. You can encounter up to four Liquid Metal Slimes at once!

Dive to the Ocean Floor

Mersea Square

The Ocean Floor is a new explorable region in the game, and you’ll need to learn how to dive before you can reach it. You will eventually learn how to dive later on in the game so you won't miss this!

Additionally, you can access miscellaneous areas only available if you learn how to deep dive such as the Sea Lord Lairs and the Seabed Storerooms.

Sparkly Spots and Secret Spots in the Ocean

DQ2 Sparkly Spot - Swamp Shrine 2

Just like on land, there will be Sparkly Spots and Secret Spots found in the ocean. Some are even available on the Ocean Floor once you learn how to dive.

The main use for the ship is to traverse the seas to progress your adventure. After receiving the ship, it's recommended to head to Tantegel to continue to main campaign.
