Dragon Quest 2 HD-2D Remake includes an autosave system that regularly records your progress as you move through the world.

The game automatically saves after key events, when entering or exiting areas, and during loading screens, helping protect your progress even if you forget to manually save.

There's Only One Autosave Slot

The autosave slot isn’t unlimited. The game uses only a single autosave slot that’s overwritten frequently. Because of this, it’s recommended to also keep manual saves, such as at a church, to ensure you always have a stable backup.

If your party gets wiped, you can load the most recent autosave instead of returning to your last manual save. This prevents major loss of progress and reduces the punishment for dying.
