The Unicorn Gundam (Hyper Mega Launcher), commonly referred to as Unicorn HML, is best known for its extremely high damage EX skill, as well as its ability to spam it at a high level.
This is extremely good since most opponents are vulnerable to EX skill damage, even ones with Perfect Guard or Absolute Evade. It is one of the few mobile suits that can easily take out The-O (Purple), the game's most popular unit at the time of writing.
When upgraded to Grade II, it becomes an even stronger unit, especially in PvE, where it becomes capable of dishing out millions of DPS thanks to the PvE-exclusive EX skill-related buffs that all Grade II units get.
Its weapon damage output is also quite impressive, making it capable even against enemies resistant to EX skill damage.
Absolute Evade and Over 100% Evasion
The Unicorn HML's defense is also very potent, as it benefits from an Absolute Evade buff for the first 18 seconds of combat, and over 100% evasion for the entire match (assuming you have Banagher Links aboard).
This combination of skills makes the Unicorn HML virtually impossible to hit when both defensive features are active, when you don't have the right tools to beat it (Unavoidable, Bullseye + high accuracy, EX skills).
Damage Reduction Buffs Against All Types Except Blue
For attacks that do manage to go through its Absolute Evade + evasion defensive combo, it will have to go through the Unicorn HML's 300% damage reduction skill if the attacker is a Red, Purple, or Yellow type unit, or 500% if the attacker is a Green type unit.
This is what makes the Unicorn HML so tanky. You need to bring a Blue-type unit to beat it, and only a select few top-tier Blue-type picks actually have a chance against it.
Lower-tiered Blue-type units may still not be able to hit the Unicorn, or they might get destroyed by the Unicorn's barrage of EX skills before it even gets to attack it.
Needs High Potential Levels
The only con to owning this MS is that it needs high Potential Levels to succeed, and won't work as well at Potential Lv. 0. This is because it'll deal less damage per instance of EX skill due to subpar damage values, and the amount of EX gauge it restores after using its EX skill is also significantly lowered.
This makes the Unicorn HML an expensive mobile suit to own, but a Potential Lv. 5 copy of this MS is well worth its price, given how powerful it is.

［C0355］ Banagher LinksBanagher Links further improves both the Unicorn HML's offense and defense by way of significant buffs to EX skill damage, EX gauge recovery, ranged sense, and evasion.
The EX skill-related buffs and the ranged sense dramatically improve the Unicorn's offensive firepower, especially its already high EX skill damage output. Meanwhile, the evasion buffs Banagher grants bring the duo's collective evasion to over 100%.
Not having Banagher on this MS really hurts its effectiveness, since there aren't any substitute pilots that can provide a combination of EX skill damage and EX gauge recovery buffs.

［C0289］ Luth KasselThe Unicorn Gundam HML's offense relies on spamming its EX skill to deal damage. Unfortunately, pilots that grant EX gauge recovery buffs are rare for units that aren't supports, and it's even harder to find pilots that grant EX damage buffs.
Luth Kassel is one of the few pilots who grant EX damage buffs, but when paired with the Unicorn, it only grants 13% more EX damage. This is a measly amount if you compare it to the 48% that Banagher Links provides.
If you want the Unicorn Gundam (Hyper Mega Launcher) to perform well, you absolutely need Banagher Links aboard it.

At the time of writing, there are no mobile suits that have extremely high EX skill damage and can spam their EX skill at a fast rate.
There are mobile suits that deal extremely high damage with their EX skills, like the Nu Gundam HWS, but these cannot particularly spam their EX skill.
On the other hand, there are EX skill spammers like the Zeta Gundam (Hyper Mega Launcher) and the Gottrlatan, but these are units that are past their prime and whose EX skills are not nearly on par with the Unicorn HML's.
