Following the end of the One Year War, Io Fleming had been relegated to rear-line duty despite distinguishing himself during fighting in the Thunderbolt Sector. But he saw his chance at redeeming himself once the Earth Federation put him in the Atlas Gundam to help in its conflict with a rogue sect called the South Seas Alliance, which had gotten its hands on the blueprints for the Psycho Zaku - which Io had fought before.
