The-O, commonly referred to as Purple-O, has high guard rate reaching over 100% (with signature pilot).

It also gets Perfect Guard for 4.6 seconds as well each time it takes damage.

Because guarding still makes a mobile suit take 1 damage, you can assume that its Perfect Guard will be active for a majority of the battle.

The-O Win

The-O benefits from even more defensive buffs. Namely, these are a 999% resistance buff for the first 15 seconds of combat, a 25% max HP buff, and the ability to restore 2,000 HP whenever it guards against an attack.

All these buffs contribute to why The-O is extremely durable, and tends to outlast the vast majority of mobile suits in Gundam UCE. The heal is especially useful as it is extremely good at guarding, which which means it gets to constantly heal itself repeatedly by guarding, and can stay healthy despite multiple attackers.

Spams EX Skill

The-O EX

The-O is more than just a defensive juggernaut. It is also boasts a potent offense that enables it to 1v6 entire teams.

Each time it guards, it charges up 6% of its EX gauge. Considering how great it is at guarding, it will be able to spam its EX skill extremely fast.

This said EX skill an enemy unit for good damage while also buffing its own damage by 39% for 20 seconds.

AoE Lethal EX

The-O Lethal EX

Its Lethal EX skill, which is activated after using its EX skill for the first time, rains down huge laser beams on the battlefield that damages enemy units based on the pilot's ranged sense and the duo's resistance.

This allows The-O to damage all the opponents on the battlefield regardless of aggro, making things like Stealth and Target Focus ineffective defensive buffs against this unit.

The damage from this skill is no joke, and deals big chunks of damage given its extremely high resistances and Paptimus Scirocco's very high ranged sense.

Regular attacks won't work on The-O. Crits alone or Assault alone won't work either, since crits do not work on Perfect Guard. Assault, on the other hand, cancels out with it and will fail to beat the regular guard rate of over 100% without crits.

Assault units that can crit are able to consistently land hits on The-O, but there aren't any Assault units that also come with crit so you'll need an Assault unit alongside a crit buffer if you want it to do well against The-O. Take note that plenty of Assault units have self-inflicted crit rate debuffs, and those are pretty much useless against The-O.

Unguardable is the best way to deal with The-O, as it allows the entire team to bypass The-O's Perfect Guard and guard rate, preventing it from both healing and spamming its EX skill. Only the Zeta Gundam (Waverider) is able to inflict this debuff at the time of writing, so options are extremely limited.

The-O's last weakness is strong EX skills, as these ignore The-O's guarding mechanics and is not cushioned by any EX damage resistance buffs. Mobile suits like the Nu Gundam HWS excel against The-O for this reason.

There really is no consistently good way to beat the The-O outside of these three. Without any of these counters, The-O will simply tank and heal through whatever you throw at it while it takes out your units one by one.

The-O (Purple) can be obtained via the Extreme Limited Mobile Suit Assembly Banner, as well as the 72-Hour Limit Mobile Suit Assembly Banner for 300 Diamonds per pull, and 3000 Diamonds for every 10-pull.

Because it is featured in the 72-Hour gacha banner, The-O can be acquired right when you start a new account. Otherwise, you will have to wait for the next Extreme Limited gacha banner period in order to try your luck.

Paptimus grants guard rate buffs to The-O, bringing its total guard rate up to over 100%. Its offense also improves drastically, as Paptimus' EX damage buffs and ranged sense buffs (that max out well over 300%) greatly improve the mobile suit's Lethal EX skill's damage.

Not having Paptimus on this MS really hurts its effectiveness, since its Lethal EX scales with the pilot's ranged sense.

The-O needs both ranged sense AND defensive buffs to be effective. Using a substitute pilot typically means you'll miss out on at least one of those, hurting either The-O's offensive power or your defense in the process.

The closest thing is the Gundam F91 (Full Power) that can similarly 1v6 enemies that do not have the means to counter it. It can also deal respectable amounts of damage, and can even spam its EX skill if it has a Green The-O Sub MS.

What makes it inferior the The-O is how it is reliant on Absolute Evade for defense, and counters for that are a lot more common than Perfect Guard counters. It is also countered by Char's Z'Gok as the Z'Gok can make it vulnerable to EX damage by reducing its damage resistance buffs.

That said, it will not be as good a tank as The-O, and its lack of AoE makes it a little bit less valuable on offense too.

The F91 is excellent alongside The-O, however, as both units are capable of single-handedly taking out teams that do not have the necessary counters for them.
