Yu Ji First Phase Movesets

Sword Stream

Yu Ji releases a constant stream of swords that fly towards the player.

Critical Blows

・Twisting Charge ・Grab Rush ・Energy Sphere

Twisting Charge

Yu Ji rises into the air and charges towards the player while twisting his body like a drill.

Grab Rush

An attack signaled by Yu Ji raising his left arm. Yu Ji will then rush towards the player and attempt to grab them.

Energy Sphere

Yu Ji conjures a large sphere of red energy and tosses it at the player.

First Phase Strategy

Guard against Sword Stream

As show in the clip above, you can easily guard against the entire attack animation of Sword Stream.

Yu Ji is prone to flinching

During the first phase of this boss battle, Yu Ji is very prone to flinching when getting hit by normal attacks. Get up close and get those attacks in!

Normal Attacks

・Penta-Blade Slash Combo ・Twisting Dragon's Charge

Penta-Blade Slash Combo

Embodiment of Demonic Qi summons five straight sword and slashes the player six times.

Twisting Dragon's Charge

Similar to Yu Ji's Twisting Charge, Embodiment of Demonic Qi will attempt to attack the player by twisting its body and charging it in the direction of the player.

Critical Blows

・Dragon's Sphere ・Slither Grab ・Wing Slash ・Dorsal Charge ・Dragon's Tail

Dragon's Sphere

Another call-back attack from Yu Ji's first phase, Dragon's Sphere is an upgraded version of Energy Sphere. Embodiment of Demonic Qi raises its arms upwards to conjure a massive sphere of red energy and throws it at the player.

Slither Grab

Embodiment of Demonic Qi will slowly slither its way towards the player before attempting to grab him.

Wing Slash

Embodiment of Demonic Qi will retreat a certain distance and very quickly slash its right wing at the player.

Dorsal Charge

Embodiment of Demonic Qi turns its body upside down before attempting to charge at the player with its dorsal fin.

Dragon's Tail

Embodiment of Demonic Qi flies away from the player before performing a flip and slamming its tail down at them.

How to Beat Yu Ji (General Tips)

Play offensively during Yu Ji's first phase

Yu Ji's first phase is weak to normal attacks and will often flinch. Don't be afraid to play aggressively.

Watch the Dragon's body parts

Foresee what attack Embodiment of Demonic Qi is about to use by keeping a close eye on its body parts. Apart from the red flash that signals a critical blow, the dragon's actual body part will also begin to glow depending on which attack is coming.

Stand still during Slither Grab

Because of Embodiment of Demonic Qi's erratic movement before performing this grab, it is easier to stand still and wait to parry instead of moving around as it approaches.

Twisting Dragon's Charge hits multiple times

Twisting Dragon's Charge is a multi-hit attack where the hitbox is the entirety of the dragon's body. Either parry every hit, or dodge the attack completely.

Punish Penta-Blade Slash Combo

Penta-Blade Slash Combo will always hit six times, with the 6th attack coming at a slight delay compared to the first 5. This attack leaves Embodiment of Demonic Qi wide-open after the 6th slash, so take the opportunity to deal some free damage.
